Never stops amazing me how hacked up these radios can be.
Really enjoyed getting this one back to service even though its not my favorite 29 too work on.
Hope yall learned something in the process I know I did!

replaced volume and squelch knobs bent shaft straight
replaced slug in L14 power coil.
replaced swr cal pot
replaced dimmer pot
replaced d11,c73,d21
replaced meter and LED red
repaired bb2 echo
installed protection diode 6a
installed talk back on switch
installed HG1969
tightened and cleaned everything

Once bitten twice clipped!! Have to laugh when you see d11 and c73 both clipped 🤦. Good call on the nice "hefty" board in the older ones. Nothing wrong with a nice hefty girl 🤩👊. Great stuff ,happy new year!

C73 was ripped out lol. I mean jeez..once d11 is cut the story is over lol..they even clipped d23 protection to get an extra .06v or so .wtf??? Thanks for swinging by bro happy new year 🎉

I love the red LED meter lights. That was some heavy duty un-hacking dude. Tbh I do occasionally enjoy me some mild poor man’s swing set but I keep it gentle and it’s rare. I’m not a fan of removing the limiter or maxed out modulation pots though. When it starts to sound like your voice is mixed with the crunch of snowy footsteps that’s unpleasant and fatigues the ear. Many times I’ll notice an increase in gate voltage just by replacing the factory solder job to the final. Poor soldering is real common in through hole boards ive seen. Love your videos as always. Thank you for quality CB Radio content once again. I’m new to the hobby and I learn a lot just by watching you. 42 and all the good numbers. Keep it shiny.

Oh yeah nothing wrong with adding the cap and resistance for a fixed lowered carrier as long as the flat tops are tuned out of the AMC the resistor won't get as hot on the modulated B+.I just love the tip 120 though it stays so cool and efficient.

Im not a band purist by any means.I like my radios with a little edge(AM punch) to them Im sure you know that by now. Just roll the mic gain back a hair if you want to sound like a telephone :)
