1883gotdown I enjoy your videos. I use to do the talkback mod like this but now what i do is add a 22 ohm resistor on the solder side of the board, the resistor parallels R21. Basically solder one side of the resistor to the R21 pad and the other leg to the ground pad. With the talkback mod you explained i would get alot of feedback especially with an echo board. with the way i do it, i get absolutely no feedback. Anyway like i said, i enjoy your videos. This is 805 in california, 73s to ya!

@ augustas mccrae my advice on antenna would be a 102 stainless steel whip. The 102 is the best mobile antenna i have seen out there and with rg8 coax you can run the max watt stuff too. your swr with these on a ball mount and spring {remember only on drivers side 1/4 panel-trunk area) or if you are commited to the cb hobby a center hole in roof.....my first mount was on passenger side i learned the fastener will loosen itself due to ant sway on drivers side it tightens .anyhow i hope you try this ant over the high priced others.If so many highway patrols used them they must do somthing right.....the ant will generate a 1/4 wave..not bad for a mobile with a flat match swr....passin the 5

Hi, good explanatory video. I heard you mention that some radios when you key up the meter light dims a bit, and you mentioned some type of filter cap. Can you elaborate? Also, I'm looking to change the green LEzd display to a blue, have you done this job? Thx. C833..

Im working in west Texas oilfields and my dx66v3 quit transmitting so i bought a 29ltd black chrome at the pilot and yep the talkback is pretty much non existent. The well got shut down today for coil tubing to come in so i thought lets see if theres a diy on KZbin. I dont have a solder gun or solder but i got some 12gauge wire so i wired the resistors together and sumbitch sounds great. I'll swing by cb shop on my way home in a couple weeks and get it peaked n tuned and solder up my quick fix and keep it as a spare. Thanks gatekeeper it just didn't feel right not having my talkback lol

I like hearing myself talk but geesh its loud. Any advice for a newbie would be appreciated. Its in a pete single cab 689 I think. I just haul fuel (8600 gals) not much of a trucker either I just like talking and listening to them old boys. And yes you read it right I was trying to learn how to turn it down!

@ireneweand69946 жыл бұрын
Well,a lot of complete off balance replies. Yes the 1K is a great choice....actually EXCELLENT choice. Here is what I say. Wilson 5K all DAY!!!! That is what another 20-25 dollars or less,shop around,will buy You. You are now covered. S.W.R.s,keep them dead on at all times. Cabling and fusing,IT IS NOT CHEAP!! Use all weatherproof in line fuse housings,know Your amperage draw,fuse accordingly. Wire loom and do NOT parallel any vehicle wiring. Always go overkill!! TWO colors,RED,BLACK. Red is hot and goes directly to the main batteries terminal....POSITIVE,keep black wire as short as possible. Heat shrink all solder connections. Keep ground as short as possible,not hard to do,seat bolts.....they tie to the frame. Yes,remove paint and do not be afraid of dielectric grease. Use all copper #2 or #0 cable,that allows for.....who knows.....1,100 watt amp. in the future. This is a job that depending on vehicle and a long day I could do at least two with a helper. Think,plan,draw,measure and get supplies where they are priced correctly and You better know where what is going where and future?....ahead of time. Just plan. WEATHERPROOF!!!! That is what the grease does as well as rubber gromets!!! Troy.

I’ve got a Chrome 29 LTD. The electronic static interference is TERRIBLE! Don’t matter if my car engine is running, turned off or the antenna is disconnected. There is always electric static noise with the power on. I have also noticed that when the calibration switch is on the CAL position, with the mike keyed, the static noise is still there. My antenna is OK according to the SWR meter and the warning light.
@027MC73 жыл бұрын
Mine is the same. That's why it sits on a shelf most of the time. I can't stand to listen to it more than a few min.

You know what...I use to think the same thing..... Now my 1st contact using ACB radio 4 6800 miles to South Africa it is called skip the radio signals travel city lower atmosphere and literally skip off of it like a ball being thrown on a cylon at an angle then it comes down to other radio station if you want to really hear some of the most powerful skip signals check out channel 6 but the most important thing the 1st office have been a good antenna of course the best place for the antenna is going to be in the very center of your vehicle but if you drive a big truck this is why they usually have 2 antennas on each side to simulate one in the center won't you have a good antenna You can Install an amplifier this is what is going to really push your signal out there strong for other people to hear you once I learned about amplifiers status for change my life to the point where I dedicate my life to
@1883GotDown5 жыл бұрын
If you're being serious about only being able to get around the corner and it is a very good chance that your antenna is not set up properly check out some KZbin videos on how to tune a mobile antenna If you really get into this hobby and make that 1st contact hundreds or even thousands of miles away that feeling That you get when you speak that 4 of a distance is an amazing feeling I urge you to look Bieber into this can honestly an amplifier is the 2nd most important thing of course with the antenna being the 1st field if you're in town I have not set up correctly and does not have a good ground And amplifier is no my do you no good if you're running a magnet lace and Tana just make sure that it is in the center port of your vehicle I have worked thousands of Stations with a Wilson 2000 magnet and Tana home my Jeep Cherokee years ago Good luck let me know if you have any questions love to help you get into this hobby and his joy speaking to stations across the United States and across the ocean but check out channel 6 this is where the most powerful stations will be talking on I've even received stations on this channel using a $5 walkie talkie from the dollar store lol
@scottwiseman80154 жыл бұрын
Antenna height and quality and matching (swr) is the real key to radio, CB or amateur, and coax does play an important part as well. Skip is when your perfectly matched rig (transmitter and antenna) skips along the atmosphere to a point far beyond your imagination. I'm in Dallas Texas and have talked to the UK (across the Big pond)in the east, to as far as Quam to the west, Artic Circle City North Pole Canada in the north, to Cusco Peru in the south, all on straight out the box wattage. Anyone who says you can't is a Damn lier. Look into all you can on matching your equipment so that it runs cool (low swr) usually 1:1 and you too will be talking all over the country and beyond. Good luck brother and 73's to ya. KZS0130 out.

ANY radio with Talk back SUCKS if it's used.I just purchased one of these Today from a local friend & as long as I own it the Talk back with NEVER be used.Talk back & Reverb is just extra BS noise that is unneeded.99% of the radios sold today don't need any mods but for some reason people on the CB think that 2 extra watts will make all the difference in the world when it's totally a waste of time & money.
@1883GotDown7 жыл бұрын
1OFGODSOWN in one way I can agree with you but in another way I will have to disagree. This is a hobby for most and everyone has there own preferences. The talkback on this radio is factory but isnt loud at all. I was justnl demonstrating the mod to fix that issue. Next wasting money to just gain 2w or so is a waste of time, bit not 20w to 60w. I have 4 Stickman Modified Comp Tuned Cobra 29s and they will BLOW YOUR MIND. I use my weakest one for my hot radio in my videos demonstrating Amplifier output. You will gain from 2w to 4w RMS 6 to 12w pep to 14w to 16w RMS 45w to 80w PEP with a single final. Major Modification that is truly amazing brother. Wish you could see one for your self, I promise you say money well spent. thanks for stopping by and come by anytime brother. Gatekeeper down here in GA said that 73z
@SNAKERADIOS6 жыл бұрын
Talk back is necessary for proper echo setup for the dry / wet levels and for a bad mic wire or dirty switch condition or bad mic element so it is useful. As long as it can be turned on and off thats the important aspect
