Thank you George. Hope all is well with you. I noticed you've been more into motorcycles recently. Nothing wrong with that, we all tend to bounce from hobby to hobby a bit. Yeah it's very easy to get out of the groove on the radio videos for sure. When you get some time see my newest video about Sears SSB's I sent you a link to. Thanks. I need to revisit this radio and change a few things. I made one error when recapping it that would serve as a good lesson video for everyone that works on these old radios. Plus there are a few things I'd like to upgrade and redo. 73's Paul

Very true. IIRC I cleaned the contacts on the channel selector a while back. However I will definitely clean them again before going any further.

Thanks. True it won't take much to get the channels back. I think the four dead channels is one bad mix crystal. Luckily I have some for these radios. Hopefully in the extras I have there is one on frequency. After I get that sorted out sometime in the future I will probably bring this radio back for a on air videogate. Yes it's fairly early. Their third model as far as I know. The first radio made under the Cobra name I've never actually seen in real life. 73's Paul

Cheers Paul, I really do wonder, what sort of people are sad enough to Troll radio videos. I get them (not many) but after all the hard work it makes you wonder.

IIRC the Safari is different. I remember it having a Nuvistor front end. The Cobra 98 is very similar to the Allied A-2567 and the CAM88 is similar to the Knight KN 2565. 73's Paul

That Philmore meter is likely not original to that radio. Philmore made replacement electronic parts. It should be like the ones on the CAM88. One of mine has a cracked bezel/cover but original, another of mine has a Lafayette. Cool video... getting ready to restore mine. Do you happen to have the SAMS posted anywhere?

I'm not sure. Maybe when I replace the bad crystal and, or, do some local or DX talk with it. Considering how quickly I received a thumbs down I'm not sure how many people want to see this radio again. 73's Paul

I wish there were inexpensive option for new crystals. It's not uncommon for my extra crystals to be bad or to far off frequency whether NOS or used. I'm sure you run into that as well.

No need to be sorry at all my friend. I was glad to help. Not doing any videos for a while was my fault and not yours. Looking forward to your future video. LOL I got the thumbs down within minutes of uploading it is what surprised me. Getting them isn't unusual but so quickly gave me a chuckle. I hate to see others get them. If the video is offensive or something I can see it but in many cases I don't understand it.
