It just shows what can be done when they get creators/writers and crew that are genuine fans of the franchise. Rian Johnson was completely selfish with his choices. He payed zero thought to anything the fans would want, and zero thought to the fact he was making the middle part of a trilogy. It’s suck a wasted potential and still pisses me off so much. Completely the wrong choice for director of a Star Wars movie, and the fact that there never will be a scene of the original 3 on screen together is atrocious.

Couldn't agree more. Rich, flamboyant, and on cocaine really fit the time frame Karate Kid 3 took place too. Perfect for the characters behavior, coked up and obsessed with winning. Kreese woke up the beast in this season and it'll be interesting to see where things go from here.

Kreese wasn't the first one to break the cycle of using anything to win in the tournament - Johnny was in Season 1. This is why he tried to tell Miguel to fight clean and why he punished him and Hawk at the beginning of season 2.

I kind of feel bad for his character. He had a pretty rich and chill thing going. He didn't need to mix it up, and then comes Kreese to tear it all down. Now Kreese might be having the change of heart, but Silver is left in all of the muck. I don't entirely blame him.

I disagree, I think they did a really good job of showing his gradual change into the person he finally became. Honestly, his acting as terry silver is INSANE. But I loved how they made his character evolve. First, he didn’t want to do it, then it’s like okay, but we can do it a different way. Then when he tried to prove his loyalty to Kreese, Kreese broke him down and crushed him. When he did that, you could see in his eyes that it was over for him.

For one, Terry Silver was already rich beyond measure from some other more luctritive means. I don't think a chain of karate studios would make or break him. Also, it wasn't until Kreese dug him out of the woodwork and got in his head that he even seemed interested in drumming up the karate business. You make a fair point relative to the series. I just don't see it making sense in real life.

Had the same problem. Kreese is all “don’t hurt Johnny” when Silver is beating him. But Kreese has tried to kill his former apprentice on two occasions. His attempt to kill Johnny when he was 17 was so bad, it messed him up well into his fifties. Kreese manipulated Johnny and then stole Cobra Kai away from him, yet we’re supposed to be sad he got screwed by Silver?

I really liked how the implemented Silver's character and his regression from a changed man to his old sinister self this season. He seemed like a changed man even admitting his old faults and the cinema-sins tier plotline of tormenting a teenaged kid for weeks on end back in the third movie. Kreese kept using their army days and the life debt to rope him back in, but even then when he decided to rejoin, Silver held a decent amount of restraint in telling the students to avoid retaliation against the other dojos and keeping it in the ring, contrasting with Kreese's approach, even going so far as to visit Daniel and actually try to talk it out. Watching him slowly spiral down and regress to his old ways after being continually belittled by Kreese to "stand down" and life debts continually brought up. All for saying even Kreese had a weakness to the class. Seeing Kreese's ruthless take-no-shit methods and wanting to seek approval from his former hero, he even tricked Johnny into getting his ass kicked by them and even that pissed off Kreese. All Silver wanted to do was repay an old friend who continually refused to let go of his pride/ego and continually manipulate him. Watching Silver surpass even Kreese's ruthlessness was quite sad considering where he came from since the beginning of the season.

Imo the beer scene when kreese showed he was boss and brought back the debt is what switched Terry. Before then Terry was loyal, but after that you saw it on terrys face that he did not like that one bit. And let’s be honest here kreese was manipulating and power tripping. So Terry set out to psychologically test kreese, when he ambushed Johnny, because he wanted to see who kreese would chose. And after kreese chose Johnny, Terry was done with him and starting scheming. He beat up stingray before the tournament so he already had intentions of framing kreese before kreese told Tory basically not to play dirty.

I think the scene where we see Terry Silver checking the Japanese stock exchange during breakfast is a foreshadow to S5. What if Chozen (who maybe has inherited some of Sato's companies) does something to affect Silver's investments in the Japanese market. Making him lose a tonne of money etc. and no longer able to make Cobra Kai go nationwide in the U.S.?

I would have given it a 10/10 if the show had more ethics, including the consequences of bad officiating and ruling in favour of Cobra Kai as a result of a bribe, Police arrested the right man for beating up Stingray which is Terry Silver, and Tory Nichols forfeits the title after learning that the result was tainted. If Cobra Kai had more integrity, sportsmanship, and show the consequences of breaking the rules, it would have been a true 10/10.

I think what's so beautiful about this show is how every bad thing that happens in this show is caused by a character's mistake, and this season does it perfectly. Kenny becomes a cobra because of Anthony, Silver takes over because of Kreese, and Tory starts to disconnect from cobra kai because of Silver.

This season was entertaining as hell to me. I feel like all of the characters have some type of growth or journey that they’re going on. But for me Tori, Kenny and Eli have really interesting journeys that are very intriguing to watch. Robbie as well. Credit to the writers for making me sympathetic to Tori’s struggles. Having Mrs. LaRusso potentially become her mentor was a juicy touch & the rivalry between her and Sam kept me on my toes. Eli has done a complete 180 and I’m glad to see him growing. I hope Robbie and Johnny can finally do some healing in S5. but mannnnnnn I CANT WAIT to see how Kenny acts next season. That library scene had me hollering Kenny thought he was Batman on predator mode in the Arkham games😂he’s gonna be an absolute menace to Anthony LaRusso and I can’t wait.

This season was BADASS. All the building up plots interweave and sew in perfectly at the end. Robby realising his faults, Tory needing help form Amanda and realising she won on a bribe, hawks redemption arc and the fact that Miguel realised he wasn't fighting for himself, which was what gave him his epicness in the first place. In episode 4, when we see Johnny's box of things he saved from his father, there's a pair of well-worn army boots. This leads me to believe that either Kreese is Johnny's father or Johnny's real father is an old army buddy of Kreese and Kreese vowed to always protect him like a son.

If we're completely honest, they represent Daniel pretty well. I know Daniel is the Karate Kid, but from the beginning he's always had an overreactive and impulsive trait in his character. It would only stand to reason that his kids would too. If they just let these developments flail in the wind, then that would be a missed opportunity. However, if they manage to bring the two kids through the ringer and have them come out developed and disciplined on the other side, it would be pretty genius writing.

And the tournament itself had a rushed feeling although I do think they did a great job on choreography. The intentions and choice of song with Carrie Underwood were good, but the execution fell a little short. As completely bonkers as the school brawl that ended season 2 was, that was a very tough act to beat. The logic and realism of a school brawl going down like that impossible, but that was an amazing finale in choreography and tone. The tournament in 4's finale was adequate, but fell well short of the school brawl.

The already filmed season 5. Just wrapped last week. As for season 4, I had a huge problem with Kreese's turn at the end with Tori and Tori questioning Cobra Kai. By putting her on the fence, the creators undercut the moment she finds out Silver paid off the ref. Now, I loved Terry Silver and what he ends up doing, but Johnny is NOT Kreese's weakness. Cobra Kai is Kreese's weakness.

I know this show isn't anchored in reality, but there's no way these kids become senseis any time soon. That takes years. More years than these kids have put in. They could be instructors, yes, but not senseis of a school.....not yet. Robby at least looks like he has the skills though. Sam is still being enhanced with careful chorography and well placed camera angles. Kenny's overnight transition from bullied to bully isn't terribly likely either. Despite how quickly he might have learned and developed, he's still tiny. I would have more likely bought Devon's fast development as she was a shark to begin with. I do enjoy these characters and the show, but they all just seem to join a school on a whim and imnediately propel to blackbelt. Schools are expensive for one, and a journey to black belt quality takes some time. The show is a blast though.

I think Barnes might come back as a sensei next season since Terry did say that he was gonna call up a couple of friends to help with the dojo after kreese was arrested

Yep, and then I saw some leaked set photos of S5 where we see that Robby is with Johnny to go look for Miguel. And I’m assuming that right after tory hears that terry bribed the ref, she might switch to miyagi do karate because of how much sams mom did for her.

Although enjoyed this season more than any other seasons, I was confused that Terry Silver wasn't as bad as in Karate Kid 3 but I finally got the real Villan in his final scene where he betrays Kreese. Perfect end to the season.

I love this show and i was surprized at the ending when Terry betrayed kreese but looking back on it i do feel like Terry also thought kreese kind of used him to and no matter what he does for kreese it's not good enough and kreese calling him back for help but still wanting full control of everything by bringing up Vietnam pisted Terry off so they both manipulate each other it's hard to say who the worst villain is out of the two of them

I really wish they would touch up more of how creese tried to kill Johnny. Daniel said that in front of the kids and none of them questioned the moment.

I love how Silver has grown even more psychotic, and I cannot wait to see season 5. I think Anthony will join Cobra Kai. I also love that Robbie came to Johnny, and I hope that is the start of them building their relationship, but I can also see how Silver could be using him as a mole.

I was actually kinda shocked at what happened to Miguel. I wasn’t sure he’d win but I thought he’d either have a strong showing or get injured again. The fact he’s left his family and Sam. I mean damn this shows now for couples 😂

Yeah...loved this series since the first Karate Kid film which I saw as a teen. Love this series now and I just turned 64! LOL! You nailed why I still feel good connecting with the humor and the deeper themes around relationships, ethical dilemmas, and how to seek balance.. a lifelong agenda...as I'm learning still.

Really interesting to see what happened to Barnes after Karate Kid 3. Would silver have stuck with him after he failed. Remember Barnes wanted 50% of the dojos in exchange for beating Daniel. I don't know how loyal he would be to silver

I think the writing for this season was excellent! Filled in the backstory from KKP3 and developed character well and introduced good new characters. With people evolving in the show and not being 1 dimensional it's great easy viewing roll on season 5 hopefully 6 and would love to see Mike Barnes too
