I got a combination padlock yesterday at work.. that of course someone forgot the numbers.. I did not even know how the mechanism worked.. I tried once and nothing.. then I thought what would you do . and in 5 minutes I got it open. It was a puzzle on its own,, you had to squeeze the padlock one side as its acts as a switch, then pull on the metal string and only then guess the code by rotating them until they felt right.. but also to reset the code - you had to use that metal string - on the opposite side of the padlock where a strange metal pin was recessed and holding it under pressure change the combination, without your vidoes I would not know where to start ! :D

AGREED! Live ther logo on Cobra locks. Nicely worked through the pins there and yes just because it's a 4 pin lock certainly doesn't mean it's an easy open.

I have a Medeco core that I've fiddled with but I can't make any headway. I *have* gutted it to see how the rotating pins work, but I still can't tell if I'm actually rotating them with my pick. (I also have a Medeco on my front door.)

I’m no medeco expert, all I know is once the pins armrest rotated, you can normally feel that they don’t wiggle as much and feel ‘solid’. I need to pick more tbh

I’ve always had an affinity for Medeco locks. I’ve used many over the years but don’t have any in my collection. I’m quite sure I’m not skilled enough yet to rotate the pins correctly.

There are plenty of videos out there that show people picking Medecos then gutting them to show the pins, sidebar etc. This format is very hard to disassemble so therefore wasn’t taken apart. This is a hobby called locksport.
