@JAG16513 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, that this is a lower spin driver, even in XB form. From my own testing of it, I would have not so much considered it, and possibly been drawn to the standard Radspeed, but after trying the XB, the combination of the very slightly more stable head, the fact the XB still keeps the spin rates well under control, makes it real contender. I can see moderate spinners with a driver certainly being drawn to the XB and it being a good fit....

Your comments at the end about the stock shafts in the RAD bring up an important question (in my mind, at least). Would you have any interest in testing drivers in only their stock shaft options? It seems that the RAD could work very well for Matt at the right loft, hosel setting, and stock shaft. I see a lot of value in knowing which drivers (or any club type, really) can perform the best at their advertised price rather than having to spend another large chunk on an aftermarket shaft. Also, I can't leave a comment without saying how much I enjoy your content and how much I've learned from it. Thank you for doing what you do.

@julescoleman54383 жыл бұрын
I recall that the last time you tested the Tour Edge you mentioned aloud that it would be interesting to see just how much one could get from it with a little effort at a proper fitting. I own the Pro version of that driver and have hit the new one before launch, not fitted for me in particular, but in the ballpark of what would work for me based on past experience and it is a significant improvement over both the EXS2020 and the Pro version though not in aesthetics. You should consider giving it the full TXG custom fitting to see what it's actually capable of. I need a driver and wedge to reach the distances Matt does with his driver so I don't know what magic, if any, he can extract from it. I wouldn't be surprised, however, to discover that you and Matt together could conjur up a bit of magic.

Matty KILLS the driver (he can carry the ball 40 yards further than I can roll out my best!) and I am sure these drivers behave differently based on swing speed. I'm in the market to replace my SLDR this season but the number of choices this year is stagering. HELP!
@brianm.90693 жыл бұрын
There is an optimum spin for different swing speeds and launch angles. The job of a good fitter is to match the correct head, loft, and shaft to optimize these factors based on how you swing. For example, you can reduce spin a lot by hitting up on your driver which will also increase launch angle.
@mysteryman52133 жыл бұрын
@@brianm.9069 Appreciate the reply B. So, if I understand your input, less spin & higher launch is where I want to be?
@brianm.90693 жыл бұрын
@@mysteryman5213 in very general terms, yes. But if spin gets too low, the ball either falls out of the sky to quickly or goes off line really quickly on a mis hit. Google "best launch angle and spin rate" for your swing speed (e.g. 100 mph) and it will give you the numbers. The spin numbers tend to be in 2200 - 2700 range and the launch angle 12 to 16 degrees, but these all depend on swing speed. Ian often quotes 2.7 as an optimized factor to multiply by your swing speed to get your total distance. I.e., if you swing 100 mph, you should drive it 270 yards with optimized launch and spin.

Going up in loft also closes the face. Because there is no interaction with the ground on a driver the lie angle should be adjusted to help with flight direction.
