Hypothetically could a displacement or height map be connected to the sprite sheet? I have normals attached and it looks great but now I want another level of depth.
@CobraCode Жыл бұрын
I haven't tried a height map, but I believe you can! I tried doing emissive maps and I think it would probably work the same way.

I have a suggestion if you are talking suggestions! Baking a chaos clothe and flesh simulation depending on the animation! I saw this was possible so I thought I would ask someone more knowledgeable!

Can you do a tutorial on layered textures inside the material with additional texture slots? I think it is possible to do a modular sprite with layered textures representing different parts like in some classic games like Diablo 2, Baldur's Gate and X-Com.
@CobraCode Жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for the suggestion. I think for something like this you'd probably wanna use sprite slots and attach other parts in that way... however slots can be a bit buggy, so I'm not quite sure if that's reliable enough of a an approach. I think doing all of that inside of materials is probably possible in some way, but I really gotta spend some time researching all the different approaches before I'm confident in making a video about that.

Great video as ALWAYS (: can you make a tutorial about making main menu and options and.... i know how to create main menu and stuff like that... but i don't know how to make options like changing resolution, changing fullscreen/window... and the most important one for me.... changing sound volumes like disabling it or making it higher or lower or.... and as always, Thanks

Hey, thanks for the suggestion. But I think that's a bit too generic of a topic for me to cover at this time and there's already loads of videos about that.

Dumb question 😊 but what if the vertex color node do in those sprite materials? Is it needed?
@CobraCode7 ай бұрын
If you have a sprite within your blueprint you can set the 'sprite color' in the details panel. I believe this vertex color is here to provide this default option.

Does your udemy course include c++ basics for someone who doesnt know anything about game making, programing, unrealengine5, etc? I am about to buy it but i am not sure if it will teach me about everything i need to start making games in unreal. If it doesnt show much programing what course do you recemend to buy with yours?
@CobraCode Жыл бұрын
Hey! Well it shows 'programming' with blueprints (visual scripting), but there is no C++ included due to how hard it is to get into. You can make full commercial games with blueprints only since they are extremely powerful, but of course using C++ will get you better performance and access to some hidden features. When it comes to C++ courses there are only 2 large scale ones available that I know of: www.udemy.com/course/unrealcourse/ www.udemy.com/course/unreal-engine-5-the-ultimate-game-developer-course/

Hey, I'm making a 2D/3D Hybrid game and your vids are a big help. I have a solid understanding of Unreal and a relatively solid understanding of PaperZD. Your udemy course seems a bit to beginner for me and doesn't seem to go in depth within the hybrid game unless I'm mistaken. Does your patreon have more 2D/3D hybrid content or does your Udemy course have it all?
@CobraCode Жыл бұрын
Awesome, glad to hear the videos help! Yeah if you're already quite advanced you might not get that much out of it. The last chapter of the course is a 2D/3D Hybrid game though and we do cover cool things such as a sword as a paper projectile which you can launch into a wall and use as a ledge and also some tricks for how to properly make the AI work for these kind of games. But if you already know all of that you probably won't learn all too much. There will soon be a 2D/3D Hybrid side scroller and 2D/3D Hybrid top down template on the patreon, but it will probably still be about 1~2 more months. Other than that I'm planning out the next udemy course now which will most likely be a 2D/3D Hybrid beat em up similar to my devlogs.

Nothing about what is shown in this video has changed with 5.3 and it still works the same way. There have been only minor bug fixes with paperZD recently.

Love these video series! I wanted to ask you if you are familiar with custom sprite outlines. I tried to set them up thru a material, just like I would setup outlines for 3D meshes, but it didn't work.
@CobraCode Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I haven't tried that yet, but it should definitely doable considering how powerful materials are and that they basically allow you to do most things you can do with GLSL. Actually when I played rivals of aether the other day they had outlines like that around the sprites to indicate the team color, so I see many benefits to having that. I'll put it on my video list!

Hello, Again! I've learned so many things from you... Thanks(: but i'm having problem in my main menu. this is what i did: (i hope you have a solution for this) -I created a Level that is completely blank (this blank level is just for Main Menu) -I created a Main Menu that has 3 different options (Exit button, Options Button, Start Button) -Start Button is going to start the game, Exit button is going to exit the game, options button is going to load up a new widget -New widget is options menu that has (Sound Slider, display button for going to display options, graphics button for going to graphic options) note: graphic and display options are different widgets * and this is what i have problem with: when changing slider's value... if i go back to the main menu and again comeback to options menu... slider is again at the default value.... for example the sound is now at the highest... then i go to the main menu.... sound is still at highest... then i go to the options menu... the sound is still at highest... but the slider is showing the default value... do you have a solution for me...? Sorry if a sentence is worded incorrectly (I know English but not very much)

Hello my friend, I have a request from you. I live in Turkey and I want to buy your 12-hour course, but since the dollar rate is too high in my country, the course price is 170 TL without a discount, if it is 70 TL with a discount. I would like to ask you, if you can provide a special pricing for Turkey, 2D game makers in Turkey like me and I would be very happy.
@CobraCode Жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for letting me know about this! On some sites like steam you can adjust the price per country, but sadly that's not the case for Udemy. You can only select the USD bracket and they then automatically decide on the price for each country, so there's nothing I can do about that 😥 Sorry, but I'm not familiar with the Turkish economy, but when I look it up 70 Turkish Lira translates to about $2.62. Usually the price on sale is about $10.00, so it seems the price adjustment is already a lot cheaper for turkey, but are even $2.62 an unreasonable price?
@aklmanickgelmiyo7714 Жыл бұрын
@@CobraCode first of all thank you for replying and i also understand you. 2 dollars is low for you but 70 tl is unfortunately not low in my country. Thanks again for trying to help me. I hope you can go higher in the future.
