The reason Cobus inspires me is because of his passion. He could play as well as he does anyday and i would think "oh this guy is pretty good!" but when he plays, its so obvious that he belongs because he plays with such skill and charisma, yet he plays so effortlessly, putting 110% of his energy into everysong, and his face is ALWAYS happy. No matter what. Keep smiling man, not many people on this Earth are as AWSOME as you!

I respect Jared's playing so much and he is definitely better than I am by a long shot. But there is something about his playing that seems super stiff and just weird. I don't know if its because of his height or if its just him but Cobus plays with a certain fluidity that is super appealing that I find Jared is lacking. But SO MUCH respect bros!

Interesting perspective. I think they both killed it, but Jared does read music and know a ton of theory when Cobus I'm pretty sure plays by ear. People who play by ear have this crazy fluidity to them (ex. Buddy Rich, Dennis Chambers) I don't know why or how but i'd suggest playing by ear and knowing theory, and trying to master both. Plus everyone plays different no matter the background

SuperDeverick Jared "practices" too much so he's developed a very mechanical way of playing. Neil Peart talks about it in several interviews, saying that he found his playstyle changed to being very mechanical, almost robotic after practising with a click track for so long.

What Jared does in 0:57 is just pure essence of drumming. I mean that he's having fun while playing that one of simplests bit, which everyone learn on their first drum lesson. It's just pure awesomeness, being pro, and playing it with so much fun. Greetings

I'm glad to hear that stick switches aren't too hard. There is only one other snare drummer on my drumline and we wanted to switch sticks like that at the end of our shows opener. Haven't tried it just yet but I can't wait till practice when I can.

As good as Jared and Cobus are, and even with all the technical ability they possess, they wouldn't fit with the Beatles better than Ringo. Ringo had fantastic, impeccable time-keeping and never once overplayed a song. His drum fills were always spot on and never overbearing. He is definitely one of the best drummers of all time, just for different reasons. Now I'm not saying Jared and Cobus don't do these things, I'm just saying that Ringo does them better. Great drumming, as always, guys!

Cobus has a larger audience, plain and simple. Companies aren't really concerned with how technically skilled a musician is if the musician is interested in an endorsement; they're a business and just like any business, they are trying to sell a product. Cobus has endorsements because he gets a million views on all of his videos which is more than Jared's videos usually get.
