Tragedy surrounds this franchise, and Brandon's untimely death will never not hang over the original, especially given the subject matter. But like Sarah's final lines say, "If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever." There was no love in this remake, and it will be easily forgotten. Brandon's legacy will never die.

It was very bizarre how Eric was a brooding, clinically depressed pill popper with an f buddy pill popper he barely knew, then one with some powers, then one with some more powers and too much eyeshadow. It's not like he was some happy wholesome young man going to build a family with the wholesome innocent love of his life, then you get this huge dramatic contrast with this unfathomable force of nature and death in black that he has become. i don't know how anyone remotely thought these decisions were a good idea. Also, heaven help me but it's horribly unfair to MGK to compare his look to 2024 Eric's. Those Leto Joker tats Eric is festooned with look more like a raid on a birthday party temporary tattoo booth than Adam Levine's.

Spoiler: Boot. Heavy boot. Happy New Year Andy 🎉🎊. In honor of its 30th Anniversary, there were screenings of the original Crow. The theaters were small, but packed. I would've been more ok if Bill was playing another character, but not Eric. Brandon died for this role and we lost a star in the making. Rest in Paradise, Brandon. This movie should've stayed in development hell.

This could have just as easily have been Crow 5, given that it has little to do with the plot of the original. The plot does work as a standalone Crow story; two drug addicts become star crossed lovers, they get themselves clean, but something in their past comes back to haunt them, causes their death, but one comes back for revenge. It would have needed more time to grow the characters throughout the film, but they could pace that well. It would also need to get to what people came to this movie to see a bit faster; having smaller fight scenes, but then the big opera scene at the end would have been good. Honestly, there are already so many quality revenge films within the last few years, that it is hard to keep up. Even this year, Boy Kills World, I thought was an entertaining movie, also starring Skarsgård, was the better revenge movie for the actor, in my opinion.

That lyrics of the theme song "can't hold a candle to them" perfectly sums up my thoughts of the Remake to a film that I hold near and deer to my heart. The crow is my favorite film of all time. The story of how James came up with the story of the crow hits me hard cause I went through the same tragedy when I was 10. I lost a friend to a drunk accident. But when I was 8, I saw the original film for the first time, and I was amazed, and I became a diehard fan. Your boot stomping segment was freaking awesome Andy. Brandon would be proud to see that. I actually got to meet the actress who played Sarah from the original movie had a convention this year. We had a great conversation, and we both agree that Bill Skarsgård had a lot of the right attributes physically, and as an actor to do the role, but the movie itself was just so badly written. I mean if they had at least tried to do more things from the original tax like the phantom, cowboy, or the comic presentations of top dollar and his gang that would’ve at least been something. This is like five times diluted whiskey at someone tried to salvage by slapping Jamison’s on the bottle.

I remember hearing, at one point during the Remake Hell this movie went through, one draft was going to see basically the story told but with the added twist of the main character being a lesbian, and I even remember thinking when I heard about that that, holy hell, that's the way to do it. I'm not against 'wokeism' by any means but seeing all the angst of the original, PLUS boobs, PLUS all the added dramatic additions a lesbian relationship would have added to the original, would have been friggin' awesome. It's too bad we got this tattered piece of toilet paper instead.

So glad I watched your video. It saved me the time of watching the remake which I had no faith in to begin with. Nothing will ever top Brandon Lee's film. It's funny because, at the time I was hearing rumors about a possible remake.
