@FactStorm they do but it's a double edged axe. It'll greatly negate drug lords, but physical addiction by the masses will greatly harm the health of the country. No doubt millions would try hard drugs if legalized. The legality does keep many people from even smoking weed like myself. I've done it but I have a life to worry about. Good job with good pay but no drugs. Even if they were legal, they'd still destroy lives.

@IHWKR11 ай бұрын
@msdadsfsx yes they do, and even that still doesn't work. Watched a documentary a year or so ago about heroin addicts in a certain spot that don't get bothered by the cops or something. I can't remember the name of it, but they're just wasting away in the streets just like here in the states. Wherever there's drug use, there's usually crime and societal decay (barring the offense of drug use, of course). I'm pro organic drugs like weed, mushrooms, dmt. But I still see the problems each has on people. I believe in freedom, but I also believe is policing our societies of legitimate wrongdoing and deterioration of society. I'm not saying there isn't a country or group of people who can defy the odds. But in terms of Americans, almost all of us lack self control. Our society is works off the ideology that we are all individual kings and queens, ruler of our domain and over others. We are extremely childish, selfish individuals. There's little to no hope that legalizing drugs will better society. It really is a catch 22 as it stands right now in my eyes. But generally illegal drugs is probably the lesser of two evils. Even decriminalization doesn't help but may even exacerbate the problem. Complex stuff for sure.

@saksit24711 ай бұрын
I agree with you 100% but I am not shocked. I am a lot more cynical than a typical person I guess. I say I am not shocked because there are a lot of people making money leaving things exactly the way it is. If I you are a DEA Agent/police, transport company, people making the little plastic bags, clinics, doctors, counselors, you have no interest in ending the drug war. You have job securities, benefits (in the USA, most of the time, your healthcare is subsidized by your employer), pension etc etc etc to worry about. That is just one example. Non-profits that help addicts are not non-profit for the people who run them. The volunteers work for free but the Director, Accountant, Marketing, IT etc etc have salaries (and benefits). So the most realistic goal is probably to reduce addition? But eliminating is not going to happen.

Drugs have been around forever so it is not going to stop, what should change is how we view users, as already said mentioned in the comments, I can drink a glass of wine a week and I am not a alcoholic. If I drink one every hour, that is a different story.. Addiction is the major issue, not drugs per se. If drugs were regulated I believe there would not be as many deaths because of fentanyl for example.

From the moment you are born you experience your first hight after trying to run in circles to make your head spin as a child, It is natural to pursuit out of body experiences etc. No point in trying to fight it just make it safe for people and regulate that shit period. We have been doing this since the dawn of humankind. On a second note I am amazed how we like to look at people using drugs to get by but we never look at society to find the reason for why maybe people need it to get by. I've met so many people who work their asses off and just to have a social life they need stimulants to not fall asleep when being with friends etc.

Agreed. I think in certain countries, particularly the US, there's too much money to be made by perpetuating the war on drugs, rather than solving for the root cause that are making people desperate for any escape. Private prisons, private health-care / addiction services - it's all geared towards making money off the "symptoms" rather than taking a real crack at solving underlying drivers.
