Cockatiel or Linnie? Which & Why? |

After contacting a couple of well known area exotic bird stores, one of them had a Linnie for sale. It is a sort of aqua color. It's so tiny and cute! It's a baby that just got off baby food. The bottom line is, I put a deposit on the little guy and hope to take him/her home no later than this weekend. I am so excited!!

Since I started watching your videos (nearly 2 years now!) I've gone from 0 birds to 3 - and 2 of them are linnies. My guys are just as cute as can be and we love their silly little personalities.

@@ParrotBliss The lutino is Eggs Benedict, but we only call him Benny, and the mauve is Juniper Berry. And #3 is a ruppell's parrot - cousin to senegals and capes. She's a doll, but not allowed to interact with the little boys.

My choice would be a Linnie! Generally they are super sweet and friendly. They’re pretty quiet. When they do chatter it’s no big deal. My question is, do Linnies suffer from night terrors like cockatiels? I like the chunkiness of Linnies! 😂

What a great question!!! No, Linnies aren’t known for night terrors and mine have never had them - yeah, the chunk is cute!!!

A great comparison between two very different birds! Having had cockatiels for decades now and having a preference for native Australian and NZ parrots, next time I'd go with a ..... linnie, I think. Though finding them for sale in Australia is a challenge!

You know, it is hard to find them here as well. I think I’m lucky to have gotten some! They would be a very interesting change for you, not very typical compared to an Australian parakeet! Hugs to Rax!

I'm getting a 2 y/o Dusky Pionus and I'm looking for a friend for her. Getting one Pionus let alone 2 is expensive. I'm considering a white cap because they seem to be the cheapest of the Pionus, not that they are cheap. As an alternative I was considering a Linnie , a parrolet , a green cheek or even an English bungie. They would have to be reasonably priced and not aggressive. Any thoughts or recommendations. Again thanks for the video.

Yes, if you can get the White-capped, go for one. Otherwise, the biggest challenge is knowing who the Dusky Pionus is likely to get along with, and I’m not sure. My first choice would be a parrot of equal size and temperament. If you can’t do another Pionus, see what other mello and semi-independent parrot choices you might have.
