Because we make them be insane by hand rearing them to be cute and clever pets. I believe that naturally they might behave differently. They were not taught how to speak cockatoo.
@lobrego47744 жыл бұрын
Eva Karbanová Hi Eva! Thats really interesting that you think that way. I’m a bird trainer and rehabilitator and in all my years i have never heard of training away their personalities. Cockatoos are not weak animals. If they wanted to not be tamed and be with the human then they wouldn’t do it. Simple as that. Parrots benefit from being with us just as much as we benefit from being with them. Keeping them as companions is not harmful to them at all. As for ”speaking cockatoo” they pick up behavioural patterns and sounds they like in the wild too. They’re just doing what they would normally. Parrots are not brainwashed or forced to be man’s friend. There are rare cases of abuse og course but far from all are unhappy, and there’s animal abuse with every household pet. Hope that answers your questions!
@czechaoife51244 жыл бұрын
@@lobrego4774 Hello! Nice to meet someone from this field. :-) If they are hand reared since they hatch, they can't learn some of behaviour patterns. I keep smaller bird species and we know that for example their songs are highly affected by learning. Only some parts of songs and only in some species are inheritable. As well as it is in other animals. I believe that if I wasn't raised by human, I wouldn't know how to be a human. Of course you can handle possible damage if you are careful, but that's not the case of every human-imprinted parrot you meet. I believe you personally know what you do and do it right and avoid ruining these birds. I know that there are breeding pairs where both parents were hand-reared since chicks. But thats not every case, as there are people breeding these birds just for a profit. I just am not a fan of breeding big parrots for a pet industry. They are so fragile personalities.

Trust me, down here in Australia, it's all just another day in the office. Be it the city or the country, you'll see and hear cockatoos, galahs and corelles all getting down with each other. I live in a rural area and have a reserve with a large stand of very tall trees nearby. Every evening at dusk, every morning at dawn, a mob of at least 20 yellow and red tail black cockatoos fly to and from the trees, where they nest. It's like humans going off to work. When they have young all I hear are the young squawking all day for food. I enjoy it very much because the black cockatoos were endangered 40 yrs ago due to poaching for overseas sales. Between the Kookaburras, the Magpies and the Cockatoos around my home, it's a daily symphony. Gotta love 'straya. 😅💙🇦🇺💜

A veterinarian I once used had a big cockatiel in a huge cage . I was in there once at the counter and a smaller very brightly multi- colored Conure parrot landed on my shoulder. The cockatiel had a conniption fit. He was screaming bloody murder and the little guy flew up into my hair and screamed back not as loud but he was mighty enough. I ended up with the receptionist helping me wash poop out of my hair with poodle shampoo.
