I think four cocktails would be interesting. Both you and the AI separately come up with a recipe (writing yours down first). Afterwards you have the AI try to improve your recipe, while you attempt to improve the AI's recipe. Might be a bit too much for an episode, not sure.

Perhaps an independent taste tester who doesn't know which cocktail came from human / ai would help prevent some bias? I know it's not supposed to be super serious but having a separate taste tester would be an interesting data point.

Great idea. There could be an episode where the other expert is the taste tester, and there could be an episode where the other expert is the one creating the human variation and Nick would be the taste tester.

You should define your recipe before you get one from the AI. I think that would be a more accurate test of "can the AI come up with a better recipe than a human."

The AI-gen one is definitely something I could see on the Chili's menu...on some sort of limited drink menu called the "May Mint Menagerie" or something alongside a twist on a julep (probably something like a julep-mojito fusion), and a grasshopper, but with Andes Mints shavings on top. I will say that I immediately thought that the grapes would be completely invisible. Grape juice could work, but it's a lot sweeter than even the sweetest grapes because of the processing and evening out. If I were doing it, and had no limits on any ingredients, I would use actual fresh concord grapes in the muddling...but that is a royal pain in the ass for most of the world most of the time. Still, I bet it would be pretty good, given the strength of concord grapes.

After working with ChatGBT for a little I would recommend 1) trying out giving it a recipe you come up with and ask it do make it better 2) as in first video show the evolution over a couple tries showing how it learns and 3) find ways of having general discussions about making cocktails instead of specific recipes to help learn concepts for user to make their own recipe

Remember that ChatGPT does not search the internet for ideas and answers. It does not have any information past 2019 (if I remember correctly). However, you can install and use extensions that give it access to the internet. I highly recommend also trying to ask it more specific questions or formats because the more descriptive you are, the better your prompt will be. I've played around with it and made a prompt to make a new Pokémon that is very long. It may also be good to preface information as well. One could include in their prompt that there is a range of oz a typical ingredient is used to make a cocktail. Parameters work really well
@StarSash77

Also you may try to define an ingredient as having certain flavor characteristics. Something like "ingredient - description of ingredient flavor profile"

Great stuff! Stoked for the rest of this series. I’m curious if GPT is able to associate ingredients with their traditional use. For instance, if you provided Velvet Falernum as the prompt ingredient, would it produce a tiki cocktail, or some riff on a corn and oil?

Of course. GPT learns by reading and parroting the internet, so it's actually very, very susceptible to traditional concepts to the point of being incorrect at times
@RthereNEusernames

@@seeker296 I know this is probably not what you meant, but it doesn't read the internet. It's been programmed on billions of pieces of data. You're right about it being incorrect at times too. Definitely has its limitations but it's very cool. GPT4 is going to be nuts.

You have to understand, that this neural network is not trained in cocktail making. It's like asking a 12 year old kid how to make a cocktail. It knows how to talk, it "heard" about cocktails and stuff, but it knows nothing about it. If they were to train it to know the tastes and smells also - it's game over

Suggestion: ask ChatGPT to make 🎉cocktails based on several different Amaros (Amani?). Like, make one with Aperol, one with Cynar, one with Amaro Nonnini, one with Campari. Then see if it does anything different with each. This will test to see if it has learned any subtleties of flavor combination.

It would have been nice to infuse some pea blossom flowers into the gin before adding it. Then you would have gotten a cocktail with a nice pink/purple hue (depending on the pH of your cocktail), which would be inline with the ChatGPT cocktail as well as your base theme. I also second the comments regarding generating your cocktail before seeing what ChatGPT comes up with, as well as doing the "who can improve it better" versions of what each of you come up with. Fun concept of a video overall though!

Stuff like this always gets me thinking about pushing at corners in the machine's knowledge. Like, if you ask it for a cocktail with two or three ingredients specified, will it give you back the expected recipe (e.g. creme de violette and gin -> aviation)? And what does it do with something less common but more normal than your last vid? Something that doesn't come up in a ton of things, or maybe really old-timey.

Sure, here's a recipe for a Mango Tajin Cocktail: Ingredients: 2 oz tequila 1 oz lime juice 1/2 oz simple syrup 1/2 oz mango concentrate 1/4 tsp Tajin seasoning (or more to taste) Salt for rim (optional) Instructions: Rim the glass with salt (if using) by rubbing a lime wedge around the rim and dipping it into a small plate of salt. In a shaker, combine the tequila, lime juice, simple syrup, and mango concentrate. Shake until well combined. Add ice to the shaker and shake again until chilled. Strain the mixture into the rimmed glass. Sprinkle Tajin over the top of the drink, to taste. Garnish with a lime wheel or a slice of mango, if desired. Enjoy! You can play with the amount of ingredients, to make it sweeter, sour or stronger.
