As a film lover I appreciated the bit of history. Good fun.

I didn't comment on the actual video, but might as well give my "opinion" now. Instead of an inside wheel form use an outside form, and then it will be much easier to hold the polystyrene in place. Thanks for the Mary Pickford drink. This is one of my favorite periods in Hollywood history. I loved all the old silents as well as early soundies, and have a good collection of them. I sadly remember when Mary Pickford passed away. If you want some social history, not polluted by modern opinion, watch old silent films or early sound films. Very interesting, especially around immigrants of the day. Mary Pickford was an immigrant. She was one of the first Canadian actors in movies, and today we have a huge number of them. Kind of a pet project of mine is finding out who they are and were. Even Captain Kirk is a Canadian transplant. There's something to be said about that, just not sure what it is. Another great video my friend. Regards, Solomon BTW, I can't imagine little sweet miss Mary drinking rum! LOL!

For the carriage, a possible solution would be to have the 2 directional wheels and the 2 front wheel of the carriage together on a X assembly where the middle of the X is a swivel, this way the directional wheel would direct the carriage. the front wheel would correct the direction and the rear wheel would simply follow the motion in the direction wanted.. Some construction truck use this to be able to maneuver into tight spot and corners.

About the wheels. Instead of trying to bend styrene strips to perfect circles, why dont you try to cut styrene rings? 1) use a circle template (the ones for technical drawing) and an x-acto kind cutter in which you will replace the blade with a strong and pointy needle. 2) draw a cross on the styrene in order to have a marked center. 3) Mark 2 concentric circles that will form your flat ring. Now heres the tricky part. Place the template on the outer rim. Hold your diy scriber perpendicular to the surface and start moving along the template pressing softly and steadily as if you were drawing a circle. When you feel that you scribed deep enough you can remove the template the needle will follow the route on it own. Scribe until you perforate the plastic sheet. Now you have a disk. Do the same for the marked inner rim. Now you have a ring. Depending on the thickness of your styrene sheet, you might have to stuck 2 or more of those rings in order to have a wheel. You might need to sand of minor imperfections, but generally you end up with good results if you take your time. The good thing is that if you have wheels of different size you can produce them from the original disk you cut out without wasting material.

I love it when you make a video like this one; one that gives your viewers a little peek into your mind. You're not just talented but also interesting. I enjoyed the video very much.

I was using resin with the torch. I don’t really have any experience trying with styrene. Good video!

Resin... Well that makes a lot of sense. :)

Entertaining video. Interestingly, a while back for a cosplay project, I did something similar as you are attempting with the lamination for the wheels. The option I chose was to use a scrapbooker's heatgun. I put the strip into the form first, and then heated it in-situ. As it warmed, I was able to nudge the material (I was using Sintra) into the shape. It was a simple matter then of just using my fingernails to keep burnishing the inside of the sintra as it cooled in the shape I wanted. I only did 2 layers and then used thin glue as a laminate binder after the forming was done. Good luck. Thank you for sharing and I'm looking forward to your final solution.

Something like the Olfa Circle cutter might be a better way of making the rim: www.amazon.com/OLFA-1057028-Rotary-Circle-Cutter/dp/B001CEAMCY For getting the spokes perfectly aligned, I was thinking printing out strips of sticker backed paper, marked with the points of where each spoke should be, once wrapped around the the edging of the rim. Then each point can be drilled through the rim, and the spokes simply threaded through after removing the sticker. This should also alleviate the warping issue that came when pressure fitting the spokes in place.

That is a really interesting idea about aligning the spokes. I'll keep it in mind. :)

I've been on the lookout for a good Midori Sour! Got a good recipe to share? Thanks for the lesson on Mary Pickford. Our TV lives on TCM. Film stars prior to 1960 were very talented. These stars, acted, danced, and sang. Today's stars rely on just T&A to make them famous. I've been in a tiki mood lately. If you like classic tiki sounds check out digitiki.com/ and Quiet Village radio. The Tiki genre spans music, food and drink. Good times!

Thanks for the midori sour recommend. I don't have any midori at the moment but sounds like I need to add it to the cabinet. :)

good video. I very much enjoyed the history. Sorry to have to mention it because surely everyone knows to whom you were referring but his name is Bing Crosby not Bing Cosby. just so happens nowadays that mistake caries with it a negative connotation.

Crap. I know it's Crosby but my mouth sometimes forgets what my mind knows. :) Thanks for pointing it out.

Oh god. I know, I know. Others have mentioned it, and I just re-watched it and winced again. I just put a note in the description but I fear few people actually look below the video. Hopefully it helps.
