Now here's where I think it makes sense for Jess, Coco etc to play doubles, because it gets that extra bit of match play on a new surface. Especially Jess having been out for a few weeks. And if she goes out earlier than expected she still get match practice

I watched 'King Richard' last night and assuming that it was in the main fairly accurate, It's a great story of kids coming from a non traditional background and getting to the top. It was interesting that Wimbledon was the high-water-mark that Richard chose as the 'carrot', rather than Roland Garros, or Forrest hills. I hope that something will eventually be made around Fran Jones for having got to at least the top 150 ladies in the world (so far), despite the congenital condition that she was born with and which she has to account for in a very technical sport requiring fine grip and balance. Fortunately the LTA have given her a lot of medical advice and support and a wildcard from Nottingham which has already helped show that her current ranking is mainly due to injuries and the effects of her condition. She wasn't interested in sport as a youngster until her father one day realised that it could be a babysitting serving and enrolled her and her siblings at a local club

As 2023, a fatigued Iga pulls out of Berlin next week ⛽⛽So, she goes straight to Wimbledon. Berlin Wildcards Kerber & Osaka. I'm expecting whoever wins Wimbledon will have likely come through the Eastbourne route. Wimbledon 2022 defending champ Rybakina chose Berlin last year as her prep.
