@@facelessgirl4731 OMG I just understand jaja the Whipping woman Is a traditional song with it's own popular story. It's a sad and love song. It's about a man that had to go to war (the Mexican revolution) and his fiance was waiting for him, but he died in battle. So people says that even before dead he loved her and she always remembered him and waited for the day they would be together again. The song is supposed to be fragments of a letter that he left for her.

I just now realized why Hector didn’t want Miguel to sing “Remember Me” in the Plaza. It’s not because it’s too popular, it’s because it’s a song he personally wrote for his little girl and doesn’t want it to be sung for anything else. Ugh my heart 😩💔
@ShadowyFox_86 Жыл бұрын
Hector knew what Ernesto had done to his song. Something that wasn't meant for the world. It was meant for Coco. And he had to hear it all the time, for all the years he was separated from his family and from Coco. That's such torture.

I watched this movie 2 months after my granny died, she had alzheimer. I cried so much that the cinema employees come ask if I was ok. PS: one fact that's clever in the music is that music help people with alzheimer to keep some memory of important moments, so Miguel singing "Remember me" to her is such a clever touch.

I'm sorry for your loss. This always makes me cry because I am studying to be a music therapist and there is proven facts that alzheimers and dementia are not able to touch the music related memories. Listening to music from the past that is filled with memories can bring a person to life despite how far gone they may seem. The possibility of me working with an alzheimers patient and seeing the life and love and happiness come to their eyes and face as they listen to music is something that I wish to experience.

When I first saw Coco I almost jumped out of my chair at the end when Coco responds to the music. I studied music therapy in college and this is a well documented phenomenon for patients with dementia or Alzheimer’s. The absolute best thing about this movie is that the music trick, to 'reawaken' Mama Coco? It WORKS. It's REAL. There's footage of it on KZbin, dementia patients who've closed off almost completely and just withdrawn into themselves - but they slip some headphones on them and play music from when they were young, and they just freaking blossom. Holding conversations, recognising people they couldn't...absolutely worth a look if you want some good feels, it's amazing to witness.

my grandma irene passed a few years ago and had severe dementia. she was always very tied to music, especially hymns, but she also loved “goodnight irene” (for obvious reasons). she knew all the lyrics, even toward the end. it was the only secular song we sang at her funeral. whenever i hear it now, it brings tears to my eyes. my middle name is also irene, so it reminds me of our connection.

When this came out so many people who had grandparents or parents with dementia of some form or another all talked about how powerful music was in helping their loved ones remember things. The incredibly deep ties music has in our brains to memory and emotion brought them "back to life" for a time before they drifted off into forgetfulness again. Many remarked on how accurate Pixar was in animating Coco's facial features, her finger twitch, as she wakes up from the dementia as memory stirs. I don't even have a relative with this disease, but this scene still makes me ball like a baby. This is powerful stuff. Also, I have never been more worried and on the edge for the stakes in a movie than this... Coco not forgetting Hector.

My grandmother was diagnosed with dementia. And it was tough watcher her fade. But after seeing this movie. It gave me hope that things would get better. It really hit me hard because I am always terrified that some member of my family will die suddenly whilst I'm away and I won't be able to say goodbye to them (yay anxiety), so I called my family to talk to them after we got home. When I got home 2 weeks later, I found out that my aunt (to whom I was very close) passed away suddenly whilst I was gone. You best believe I listened to "Remember Me" on repeat and cried like a baby in my bedroom.

Foreshadowing much? 2) During the main course of action Hector walks around barefooted. When he crosses the bridge in the final scene, he is seen wearing shoes, which means that he is finally accepted by his family (all of them being shoe makers)

The fruit paintings tend to have political and/or sexual statements in them. The avocado in this 1 is a symbol representing the female genitalia and when the other performers are crawling out of the pit it is showing "birth". The fire is most likely representing the pain of childbirth.

Then Miguel started singing to Coco and I lost it. I look over to my kids and they are all crying and tell me they miss grandma, and I say to them I know I miss my mom but like the movie said our loved ones are not dead if you keep them alive in our hearts and memories. As soon as we left the theatre we drove to my moms grave because my kids wanted to say hello to their grandma and tell her they miss her and love her. Dam it I’m effen crying again. My ID is Gangnam Beauty (so many sweet messages in this show istg) 3. Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth (it's a historical drama with so much shit going on in it, it's really such a well made show) I just put 3 since kdramas are really long per episode. if you never see this comment that's okay, I just wanted you to know that there are SO many other insanely good shows and movies outside the West. 9:12 I wish Disney would make more films w/ mythical creatures (like Coco, Hercules), bcos they're fascinating & visually stunning

Apparently my mom told me that Coco was a real person but Disney made a movie of her and did not give her credit I don’t know if the credit part is true but I find it fascinating that she is real.

i was grieving my grandma when I watched this, it didn't help that Miguel's abuelita looks and acts like my grandma. also, we never met my grandma's side of the family as she left when she was very young, we didnt have pictures,we didn't even have names as she had forgotten... last name was so vast so we didn't get to find them though we tried, she couldn't write them because my grandma couldn't read or write, so she died without us knowing her side of the family. This movie's message resonated to our family, like mexico I'm from a country that celebrates day of the dead.
