simon iron, yes the sound es bad because the coconut shell and the plywood are not good for resonance purposes, moreover I believe they are so thick, so they can not conduct the vibrations

ah I see. Also what I forgot to ask: do you need a bigger body for bigger tongues? I have long metal tongues that make low notes. I´m thinking it might need a bigger body to resonate properly.

I'd like to make my own kalimba. But I was wondering... I see a lot of kalimbas without a bridge (juste tines fixed in the grounding bar). Is it necessary to put a bridge ? (btw thank you a lot for your video !)

You can get better sound by fixing them to the ground but make sure the tines have wiggle room for vibration when plucked.

это шина заземления) латунная. Продают в магазинах электро-товаров там, где шкафы электрические продают. Бывает в корпусе (как у меня) бывает без корпуса и длинна разная)

Спасибо, этот вариант зажима язычков удобнее, можно делать настройку каждого, изначально я расматиривал вариант зажимать их металлической трубкой

The tone will depend on the thickness of the metal. It is better to make them a little longer and cut after tune up.
