I would say just keep it rinsing it , squeezing out the water , rinse , squeeze out the water , for about a few times . But I could be wrong

I’ve heard some people use coconut oil as a precleanser...can I use this method then wash my face with my normal cleanser afterwards?

Honestly that's the only way you should use It. If you use It as a moisturizer It Will probably clug your pores and cause a breakout. I use It in the nighttime ti remove makeup and then i follow with a foamy cleanser and the rest of my routine

can cleansing with a large amount lead to breakouts? I was clearing up but now I'm breaking out a little so I've scaled back to cleansing with about a fingertip worth of coconut oil.

If you already have naturally dry skin, your skin could be overwhelmed with such a large amount of oil and breakouts seem like a likely result. I definitely think a smaller amount would be better. Have you had different results since scaling back?
