i love to revisit these matches when theres nothing going on. all they could talk about was Horan this, Horan that. fast forward a moth later and no one uttered Horan's name during the world cup final where she didn't even get on the pitch because Mewis and Lavelle are simply better fits for the team. Reputation is a hell of a drug with that one though and people don't seem to remember how off Horan was in her next tournament and gave her the POTY anyway. As long as Lavelle and Mewis are healthy, there isn't room for Horan in their best configuration, full stop.

why fixate on the starting 11 when you know (not even in hindsight) there will be more than 1 group of starters, or people capable and likely to start. You know that Horan, Lavelle, Mewis will also have turns starting. You know that Press or Lloyd will likely have stints starting. I am not even saying this in hindsight. You just knew going in that Horan and Mewis might share starting duties - as an example.

They are playing her because she is in bad form and they want her scoring goals in WC. Llyod and Press are playing, creating and scoring more Goals but that means NTH to Jill. With her its all or NTH with Alex but unfortunately she has played way too many games with unless opponents in the last two years and the wear and tear are apparent now.

That yellow card against Mexico in the 38th minute was undeserved. Dunn had pushed just as hard as her opponent. Either no free kick at all or perhaps one in the US favor might have been justifiable. The ref should have consulted with the line judges to get their input. She didn't.

Uswnt can't win anything in the champion women world cup this year😔😔😔.Mexico was a weak team and did not have forwarders. However US women only took one of their mistake in the first half and finally win 3 to 0 in the whole game. In the game every US women did not have patient to keep the ball to create more room to score. They only kicked the ball to where ever might be a room and tried to win the ball by speed and stronger body. The mexican ladies were not too weak in this way. Meanwhile most of the US players tried to do something great by individual but it did not work. Rose, the most creative player, were at the back right side too far to score. Rose best position was in the middle of the mid field. She could deliver the ball accurately to lelt and right of the wings and centre forwarder. Unfortunately, Rose did not win the confidence yet from most of their teammates. It could be she joined the team late. Most teammates preferred kicked the ball to the front to no one rather past the ball to Rose to organize the attack . Morgan was not fit. I think Lloyd (her play very similar to great player Wambach who set the ball to teammate accurately) could play the centre forwarder. In the game , US took 2 in second half because Mexico getting exhausted. When US faces the European teams, UK , France ,Germany , Spain, there will be another different stories. US ladies cannot win over them in physical or have better skill than them. Soccer game is a kind of art that not only fast and strong. I think Jill knew how to do hard physical training but did not know soccer too well. I missed the previous US team before Jill.

@@giadap9501 yeah, that works as long as you have a good sense of timing. A lot of chances were missed in this game when the passes were too early and the receiver couldn't get to the ball. Good timing is an art form. It apparently is not taught enough with the USWNT

This was a different Mexico team compared to the one that went to the Concacaf Qualifying matches. They are building a new and better team with this promising youngsters. Among them are some winners of the U-20 or whatever under ladies that won those cups against USA. Also Jill is the mentor to that Mexican lady coach. Mexico didn’t have their super experience forward scorer who has a Club duty in SPanish league. It seems that Santiago the Mexican goali did good except for that one goal that her defender got unfocused in. Idk if it was more because this team was able to do better than before or if the USA just didn’t capitalized fully, bc Santiago did make some saves.
