I discovered it only recently (having heard nothing by them) while doing the RS 500 during lockdown. Blew me away. Very few albums have had such an impact on me.

The melody during the chorus breaks me every time. Prince said that Fraser's melodies put him in a dream state even though he couldn't understand what she was saying.

Omg, this made me so happy! It's rare to see a reaction to Cocteau Twins, let alone this song. This is one of my favorite songs by them. It's absolutely beautiful or, as you said, simply a "pretty ass song" 😂 For a different vibe, check out Musette and Drums!

I remember seeing somewhere that people used to call her the voice of God. Hell of a singing voice. This whole album is great, most of their other albums are great. She also had a great collaboration with the trip-hop group Massive Attack on the song “Teardrop” that you might recognize. It’s worth reacting to if you haven’t heard it before.
@steelyman08 Жыл бұрын
Hell yes! That's just about the classiest one of all time. I was into the Cocteau Twins before MA came along, but then I got into Mezzanine big time. They sure knew how to pick their guest vocalists! Dissolved Girl. Wow! But Teardrop is just out of this world. It was the perfect marriage but, on paper, you might have thought: that's nuts! Elizabeth Fraser & Massive Attack! Never! Those guys are pure genius.

Heaven or Las Vegas, Blue Bell Knoll and Victorialand are my favorite Cocteau Twins albums. Unbelievably deep and intimate music. I met in 84 and it changed my life forever.
@Brain_Juice11 ай бұрын
Yes, I agree right from the 1980's they became an intimate part of my life :-) - I will only speak for myself, I never grow tired of any of their music and I own most of their original vinyl albums in mint - nr mint, also represses - The story of how they actually became a band in the first place is also really interesting.

If you like the vibe, these are my favorites that I think would work well for reacts. "Ivo" "Loreli" "Blue Bell Knoll" "Carolyn's Fingers" "Kissed Out Red Floatboat" or "Aikea Guinea" Great band to space out to. Much to explore.
@elysehfm87973 жыл бұрын
Also, the videos detract from the music, with CT, and I wouldn't bother with the lyrics either, since Elizabeth Frazier mostly uses words from different languages that she likes the sounds of, and they won't make sense in most cases. Just let the sounds take you away. Here's an example from "Ivo" -- "Peep-oh, Peach blow, Pandora, Pompadour Pale leaf, Pink sweet, Persephone, Near our ivo Peep peep-oh, Bit animal, Peep peep He didn't deal, little rito, Peep peep-oh" It gets way worse. Or BETTER!

Seriously! The joy on your face, and your reaction to this song was very moving and genuine. I know I'm 9 months late to make comments, however, I just lost someone very dear to me. I'll echo what others have said; I love seeing people on KZbin reacting to Cocteau Twins and Elizabeth Fraser, my all-time favorite vocalist ever ever ever. THIS particular song was something where I heard it and thought, "This is what it sounds like *inside my head*" because it was so swirly and glittery. I think I'd heard an earlier album of theirs a little bit before this, but this track in particular was just a mind blown wide open thing. Someone below recommended a different song to hear her range, and if you want a really really good demonstration of her range, find Quisquose. It is definitely something from a studio because the tracks are layered, but I wish I could see that live. Thank you again for the reaction!
