I remember reading articles (probably in Anglers Mail) about catching cod inside Spurn Point on Black lugworm - there were loads. In the 1970's I think. They also used to catch them from the clifftops.... Such a long time ago. Wish I had kept those papers! No sea fishing in it these days! The writers were:: Pete Grundell, Ray Fosburg, and Derek Fletcher, Also Clive Gammon.

First off cracking video Mate, always look forward to them new uploads. I’m into catching my first good shore cod this season and I’m from the same area, I’ve scoured this web app called navionics and it would seem there isn’t a whole lot of good deep water our way. I mean from that lady bay I think it goes to 4-7 meters maybe 100 meters out or so. Two questions for you mate. Out of interest in catching a big cod do you always prefer low tide up to high tide during night time or does conditions not that important and it’s down to which mark you fish. And how far do you think your lobbing the bait in this video. 80meters 100, 150 🤷♂️🤷♂️ P.s forgotten question. Have you ever tried using strawberry 🍓 anemone for bait I read on Marsden banner group that the old timers used to use parps on hand lines off the cliffs and the cod used to go wild for them after a decent sea
@fishingintheukgarywood2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, it depends on which mark you fish, i think the cod turn up on different marks at different stages of the tides which is the tricky bit to work out, but I do think cod fishing is better at night because the cod are more confident about feeding in shallower water. Try using Google earth it gives a good view of the marks and helps to spot gullies and deeper hole's where the cod might be feeding as the tide pushes in. I think I was casting about 50 - 60m at this mark I was trying to reach the kelp. I havent tried anemones for bait but might be worth a shot trying them. Let me know how you got on with them if you try them.

Always look forward to your videos mate, what rig and rotten bottom do you tend to use?
@fishingintheukgarywood2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I usually use a pulley rig or single hook paternoster both made with 60lb mono, using 25lb mono for the rotten bottom part.

Do you use a tapered leader? Trying to get information from people who use things like yourself apose to those test cast videos
@fishingintheukgarywood2 жыл бұрын
No I don't use a tapered leader. If I am using a mono leader for 5 and 6oz weights I usually use 60lb storm sea tech line.
