Did the math, the Olympus Mons‘ FTL goes at 80 times the speed of light ( 80cc), so it would take about a month or two to go to Alpha Centauri. 80CC is on the slow side of sci-fi FTL, less than 1/3 of Warp 5 from Star Trek.

Honestly thought imo it just adds to how powerful Olympus mons was. Imagine having essentially both the most powerful warship WITH the most powerful weapon in the solar system and it just turns on you. What else can you do other then plead for it to stop? Because it took out most of the SDF fleet, crashed and STILL had weapons available. I always wanted a scene ware a sdf ship tried entering atmosphere to protect the elevator but was immediately shot down by the F-SPAr. Forcing a no fly order by sdf only for Ethan to reveal that was the last shot available.

One of the most real depictions of battle in games. Easily top 5, despite science fiction. People make mistakes, emotions can interfere and things get tricky and hazy in battle. These felt like REAL PEOPLE, and it is a tragedy we haven't gotten more from this story

Always loved when Nick kills Kotch after you take the bridge of the Mons, because for talking a big game, Kotch wasn't a really good leader. He may claim the SDF doesn't fight, they attack, but a fighter like Nick had what it took to kill him, take his fleet's flagship, _AND_ even after what he did in the end, destroyed the SDF's shipyard with gusto. And just Nick going "Captain has the conn." after jamming his knife into Kotch's head for the finish works so well too, given how pissed he was already after what the SDF did to Earth's forces.

Everything was so badass, the first person animations, hand up to ear when talking on comms, on-screen hud when firing the Mons's Railgun, destroying the ships at the shipyard, the sound design, the panic of the SDF, everything about this campaign was just perfect. Shame the community hated on it from the moment that first trailer went live, it deserved better.

a real eye for an eye. it felt sweet to destroy their fleet. especially when they were planning planetary decimation and genocide of Earth I really wanted to continue the war and see how it all ends. all we did was destroy their fleet and the shipyard they needed to rebuild it. wanted a mass invasion of Mars with SATOs new fleet

Infinite Warfare gave me a warship I love other than the star destroyer. The Olympus Mons is a clever design, and it resembles the Harrower-class star destroyer from The Old Republic. A surprise to be sure but a welcome one.

I played this storyline more than 10 times for a higher difficulty or just for fun. Every damn time I mount the Olympus I feel like hell is breaking loose. Every time I hope that I get every ship down and take out the station, hoping to win without loosing everyone. This game storyline is without a shadow of a doubt the best COD or any storyline in video game history. The emotions you feel, how you connect with the characters, knowing their good and bad sides, and simply feeling the responsibility to win a war in order to save billions while trying to keep your crew alive is beyond realistic. I proudly admit that I cried when everyone died, specially when Ethan died, stayed 30 minutes moving around the room and trying to find another way. The credit scene was also very emotional and shows the dedication of the devs and their attention to detail. Olympus Mons and the Retribution will always be my favorite starships ever, and Ethan my most loved character in gaming. You will be missed, Metal-1.

I don't think they wanted to just destroy the shipyard. After all, if they just did that, their fleet still outnumbers the UNSA by a large margin. By taking out all of the destroyers as well, you can guarantee their Navy is crippled, though I don't think Reyes thought the weapons would run dry so fast.

It’s the cannon the SDF steal at the beginning of the game in the tutorial, and it decimates an entire armor column during that mission. That was the cannon running on battery packs or whatever on Europa. Now it’s got the reactors of Olympus Mons powering it, so… yeah. My thinking is that it’s similar to the death star’s lasers, the small ones that combine to kill planets. More than enough to nuke a city or down a capital ship.
