The Hull Trawler H34 The Portia featured many times in this Vid was my Grandads trawler and he was for sure on it at the time cos he never missed a trip, look north and calendar did a feature on him and his brother cos they had over 100 years on trawlers just between the two of them, RIP Grandad Fred Ledger, x

Where is all the Photos from Ministry of Defense in Britain about all the Cod wars? Classified? No! The ministry does not want people see the crimes they did to Icelandic small Gunboats of Allied Nato friend! BBC was on the Frigates and Tugboats, just one side of the story!

Which cod war, there was more than one. In fairness hats off to Iceland for taking on a Naval Super Power at the time.

This was the last cod war over 200 miles limit I was personally I three of them This one a 50 and 12 mile limit It had nothing to do with them taking on a naval super power it was more political and could have had far reaching consequences for the word if Iceland closed the American airbase down as they threatened to Our prime minister let us down We could have continued fishing there if he had excepted their quota But he wanted more and thousands of men lost their livelihood through it.

The hms Apollo f70 was the ship involved in the collision the f76 was hms mermaid but not involved in the cod war as far as I know

@@allanmckernan7608 cheers. In the thumb for the video it shows F69. I remember the Mermaid hit the Fittleton and she quickly sank. I dont remember ever seeing the mermaid, and I thought the ship in the thumb reminded me of the Abdiel, but she had a pennant number beginning with an A if my memory serves me well. I had a loan draft to Abdiel in 84. Incidentally, I was on a Hull trawler in 75 when the cod war was on. Happy days.
