Removing all sorts of alpha tested surfaces would improve performance a lot. Effect performance got a little better with a recent update on the client mod

Probably my personal preference, but I prefer the look of the darker sky and less vibrant colors of the previous showcase! Nevertheless, what you've managed to achieve in a 15 year old game is absolutely mind-boggling

Any idea why attempting to load custom maps results in a black screen at the main menu and if there's anyway around it?

Because these maps have never been captured by the Remix Runtime and never configured

@@xoxor4d Not entirely sure why, got an RTX3090Ti and 5800x3d processor. Getting single digits ingame with DLSS off, DLSS on getting around 28FPS. Quite poor performance here.

The lighting is too dark, the alpha effects are broken, there are ghosting artifacts everywhere, and some of the brighter colors like the zombies eyes are wrong/oversaturated. There are some forced post-processing effects like motion fade-in that also don't belong. The whole art style and level visual design of the game has been pretty much gutted, and this is just Nacht Der Untoten. I can't imagine what eyesore the rest of the game must be.

It also gives the game more atmosphere and mood while grounding objects in the game in a much more realistic manner. Lack of effects is indicative of work in progress so not sure what you were expecting.

@@edderwright9042 The theming is subjective, but from a gameplay perspective you don't want players to roam around a room partially covered by black void, and that will consequentially lead to visibility problems for many people. Absolute blacks in level design can only be present when there is a flashlight feature to aid in visibility, that of which is not something you have in World at War.

@@AlexanTheMan To me that's a minor issue that can be edited with placing a light source later on. This is still very early days in development of the project. Just look at how Half Life and Serious Sam path traced games were able to easily get over lighting issues you mentioned by use of flashlight or placing additional light sources.
