Awesome video as always Bill and Deb. Y’all always show the good times as well as the not so good times when y’all are overlanding in some of the most incredible places. Thanks for letting us ride along with y’all on y’all’s adventures.

Thanks for showing even the troubles y'all's encounter, it makes it more real. KZbinrs normally post only the greatness of their adventures and that's ok to, but i love the transparency of yours and Ms. Deb's journey. Sara and I are no where near the level of overlanding y'all are but are encouraged thru your ventures, even the bloopers, lol.

Wow! Glad y’all were safe when the axle broke and glad it happened where it did! The trip was beautiful scenery and especially that sunrise! Godspeed on the journey! Loved Deb’s mud sandals!

Wow, sorry for the bad luck with the gladiator, like you say wheel bearings you normally hear before hand. And I can emphasize a little bit so I just have replaced the engine in my JK but the rest of the trip look pretty interesting. Safe travels.

I know three other "overlanders" (overloaders) who had this happen on their Gladiators. Apparently they get loaded so heavy and/or tow so much, well beyond specs (especially GVWR), that the rear axle eventually fails. The lucky one only had the wheel studs break off. It takes a while, but the results are the same. They SHOULD be using full sized trucks to handle that much mass. A modified Wrangler (or really any mid-sized truck, like a Tacoma) isn't going to be able to handle the weight of all that gear, but people just don't get it.
@CoddiwompleOverland2 ай бұрын
Yea we do tend to get a little heavy. However I don't feel like this was the case. As you probably watched in a previous video, we were hit in the same tire that had the axle failure. The axle was changed but the housing was not. The axle and bearing that failed had less than 25,000 miles on it. So I believe the real culprit was an ever so slightly bent axle housing As far as over and towing capacity, we are below specs and the trailers that we tow are just over half of the Gladiator's tow rating. I do "get it". Thanks for watching!

@CoddiwompleOverland I did not see the video where you got hit. That could definitely play a big role in this particular failure. Having said that, I have seen many Gladiators that were far over GVWR and 3 had rear axle problems, surely because they were operating well outside specifications. The owners just didn't care to pay attention to the specs at all. I am extremely happy they had the exact rear axle you needed on hand, allowing you to very quickly get back on your adventure.
@CoddiwompleOverland Ouch!!! Jeez! 😯 Yes, it makes much more sense now.

We feel like it was from the accident we were involved in earlier this year. Link to that video below. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4nUlnWgral8r7s

SEMA is on my bucket list as well. Glad the wheel coming off wasn’t any worse. I had all of the lug bolts fail on my Jetta and my wheel came off going down I-95. Loosing your wheel on the highway is no fun for sure. I do the “fold over” when I make caso-pizzas.

Oh no. I've never seen that happen to a Jeep. Hopefully a rare occurrence. We just had our Gladiator regeared to 513s here in Tampa. The break in period sucks! Lol.
@CoddiwompleOverland2 ай бұрын
We think this was related to the accident we had earlier this year. You're right the break in sucks.

As someone planning to hit the road semi-full time I want to ask..... Do you have towing coverage and if so who do you recommend?
@CoddiwompleOverland2 ай бұрын
We do not. But it is something we are going to look into.
