Ok it seems like there's a need for some clarification again regarding this video. The call was "Injury accident, car vs. motorcycle with a fight following." We had 2 or 3 units responding to this situation. So, I hope that's serious enough for you bleeding heart - "you're driving too fast" - Monday morning quarterbacks. There's no denying that code 3 driving is a rush and one of the fun parts of the job. However, we don't just do it for some random reason or to go get doughnuts.

I spent 6 years with the local Explorer Post and numerous internships with the Washington State Patrol. There is not a sound I love more than that 4.6 Liter V8 roaring over the wailing siren. Brings a smile to your face every time!

I don't understand all these people. Code 3 response is for a reason, and that is to get there fast, not take your time. Lights & sirens mean get outta the way, not stare and listen. I don't understand these people who say you're driving too fast. If they want you to drive the limit, then what's the point of the lights and sirens.. Honestly people, until you're in a situation where you want the police there quick, I don't think you'll understand how Code 3 responses work.

Man I love the sound of the P71 wide open. That's why I own a 2004 myself (Best year and they are amazing cars. I love mine). I don't understand why all these people are bitching about his driving. He's a first responder heading to an accident call with injuries. Was he supposed to drive like an old blue hair? If somebody is breaking into your house, do you want the cops to drive 35 MPH to get to you or do you want them there as fast as possible before the bad guy kills you. Freakin morons.

Looks like this kind of driving happens everywhere. In Colorado nobody yields the right of way to emergency vehicles either, but yet I forget to turn off my front amber flashers and they pull right over, i don't even have headlight wig wags or a siren! Stay safe and keep it between the ditches!

I've been in and seen Dodge Charger, CVPI and Impala police cruisers, and after driving an Impala, I relize it has a hell of a lot more power behind it than you would have to think. I wouldnt be on the curb crying if I was given an Impala rather than a CVPI, it definently does the job.

@marshall0792 Let me help you understand. The last thing I want is to fly by someone on the left side just as they decide to make a left turn. I need to know they know I'm there and that I'm passing them. That's why we wait until they "fly off the road into the ditch" to pass - after all - pulling over to the right is what the law requires. Hope that helps.

Traditional translation of Code 3 is "Emergency". So when you're responding Code 3, you are responding emergency. Lights and siren are just tools used request the right-of-way to make your response faster, and more safe. If you guys are going to fight over what Code 3 means, then get it right. Code

In my area, the city PD will respond and control and help until county gets there. All the city PDs do that. Is that a mounted personal camera? I ask as there is no telemetry showing. I've thought of doing that and wonder what mount you used if it is a personal camera.

@ReneReaper here it's like when an emergency vehicle hits another car while responding, it has to stop, no matter what call it was and even if they just hit the other car's mirror, they have to stop; then another unit has to take over the emergency

@Kheldarren a lot of the newer cameras in patrol cars don't show the telemetry unless you're watching like...on a DVD player with the captioning turned on. It's weird lol, so it might be an actual patrol car camera. My dad is a state trooper in Texas and I know that's what THEIR set up is :\

Why was the siren turned off well before he arrived on the scene??? Also, I am NOT saying it is good or bad, but at the stoplight where he turned left is it normal behavior to go against traffic even though there was a clear path on the other side too???

@LCPDofficerGarcia Actually, it is a law: 49-625. Operation of vehicles on approach of authorized emergency or police vehicles. (1) Upon the immediate approach of an authorized emergency or police vehicle making use of an audible or visible signal, meeting the requirements of section 49-623, Idaho Code, the driver of every other vehicle shall yield the right-of-way and immediately drive to a position parallel to, and as close as possible to, the nearest edge or curb of the highway... @healingduck It's not unusual. The factors vary but it could be an old person who suddenly becomes confused and disoriented and needs to find their bearings, to someone who's being dense and not paying attention or someone has their music up really loud although I would expect them to see the flashing light bar. All in all, that's why officers are trained to exercise due regard when driving code 3.

Police Officers are trained in Medical response, most have medical equipment. A Traffic Collision in your area makes you responsible for traffic direction and control, prevent a hit and run collision, and to identify if there was a crime involved. Drunk driving, etc.
