I worked part time at a college police department, and full time at a mall security department at the same time for a while. The college had SpeedTech lights and siren, which worked for our purposes. However, the mall had two patrol vehicles outfitted with these code3 handheld controllers. Worked way better. Lev 1 was the two ends of the light bar flashing just for basic visibility while driving. Lev 2 was the rear. Lev 3 was all sides of the bar, with white flashing added in. Aux's were arrows for the rear. I don't know if it was just that we had a louder speaker system, maybe it was 200w or something, but the Code3 builds at the mall were WAY louder than the college. Whenever there was an emergency, people yielded to me with amber and white lights because the siren was so attention grabbing.

That's neat. It's crazy how the hand-held controller is small, but its siren packs a big punch. The PA system also seems to be much louder and clearer.

I love it, way more useable if you ask me.

Good point. I am still getting used to it.

I love those. I have used one of those in the patrol vehicle I used to drive. It does take time to get used to it. I cant tell you how many times I have accidentally activated the siren when trying to turn on my ally lights or turn off my code 3 lights.

lol That is definitely a downside. It takes some time to get used to it in order to avoid accidentally pressing other buttons.

We use these on a few cars in my department. The only problem is that they don't feel like installing the siren properly, so it's in the trunk with the rest of the wiring and such.

It is definitely different, but it takes up less space in the cabin than a regular lightbar and siren controller.
