I've got a problem with them right now and they don't seem to care about fixing it. I had a notice back in July and went to court in Aug and was only fined $25 but they charged me 3 times and haven't fixed it yet, my solar installation has been on hold since Aug because of their errors in bookkeeping and don't seem to care about fixing it. they just keep transferring me to different offices because none of them know what their doing except how to rip people off. They keep telling me they're backed up but backed up doesn't mean they don't have to fix mistakes, I'm waiting for a reply from my US Senator about fixing their problems in his district.

Code enforcement is no different than an HOA inspector. They exist merely to write up perceived violations and to extort money from you. Whenever I have seen actual code violations that cause a real safety hazard and reported them it takes over a year before someone ever shows up to look at it. But BS like this and they hop on it immediately, sending a code enforcement officer to look at someone's vehicle and send them a $4,000 fine for having a tire low on air.

Imagine driving on a two lane highway, or on a highway with multiple lanes in one direction, with a low left front tire; applying the brakes quickly and hard, the vehicle will move at least a little amount INTO the lane to the vehicle's left (it would depend on HOW low it is, how far over it will go) possibly putting vehicles IN that lane in danger of being struck. If a motorcycle was the "other" vehicle, death of the operator OF the motorcycle is a quite possible result. I drained the water and have been pumping the rainwater out on a reasonable basis, but rarely much in the pool and not green. I have to go into a special magistrate meeting today due to $500 a day due to non-maintained pool. The code inspector is not assigned to my street, but a street over. Only one picture shows water in the pool (after a hurricane, go figure) and the water is clear. All other pictures show the pool as being empty. The pictures also show the code inspector's camera being held over the fence and into my property. At no time did I allow him on my property and refused to talk to him since he is not my code inspector, who I have spoke to previously with no issue. My most recent experience with law enforcement was them pulling their gun on me and them making a false report as to why gun was pulled...this being on camera. I'd like to know your opinion on the situation of unlawful search as a reasonable person would not be able to see over a 6ft fence, it was known the pool was a koi pond due to stalking, non-assigned code enforcement officer on case, and no evidence of a green pool, but still charged $500 a day.

Sad when local, state, and federal governments do this type of thing. My local township has a code enforcement officer that is ticketing, levying fines, and proposing legal action against property owners, but his own house and free standing garage have incomplete improvements that are easily visible from the road and have been out of compliance for almost a decade. When the board and code enforcement officer were confronted with this obvious code violation, their response was to issue him another two-year permit and considered the matter closed. That was almost two years ago and the front of his house still has shown no signs of change to be in compliance. Even though the board and code enforcement officer has continued to demonstrate its ability to cite, fine, and start legal action against other property owners, they showed obvious favoritism towards one of their own. Unfortunately, this is all too common.

If they actually cared about the tires being flat then they would have put air in them. Instead they fine him thousands of dollars "Their way to print money on some bs" - Even if all the tires were flat I would have told them straight up, he is not paying you a dime for something so petty and you should be paying for the new tires he had to get because you had a problem in the first place.

I once heard a story about some code inforcement officer breaking the lock on somebody's gate going into the back yard and was shot by the home owner. The home owner was found not guilty in court.

Local to me, we had a car enthusiast that got on the wrong side of a local public official. To keep the harassment calls down, the car guy built a nice fence around his property and posted a number of No Trespassing Signs to go with the fence. He still got hauled into court about his 'litter'. The complaining neighbor had all sorts of pictures of this guy's back yard that he could not have taken without trespassing. The car guy only asked the complainer where he was standing for each picture. Finally, after pains takingly admitting to trespassing, an uncover State Police officer stepped forward to arrest the trespasser and thus end the dispute. For good.

Is this for real? You wanted to fine a dude for having a flat tyre on a car he owns parked on his property? A little Hitler doing his best to be an arsehole, is a joke xD

Battle Creek Michigan towed a registered car of mine because it sat parked for months... It was summer time and it was my winter beater parked in the driveway... When I try to get it from the impound lot, they claimed it was too rusty and unsafe so they didn't have to release it. I sued everyone.

That tire wasn’t flat. If you notice he took the pic at an angle so the taller grass in front of the tire made it look worse than it was. That’s some shady dirty crap!

This was ridiculous. Basically if your tire went flat after you parked it and this gung-ho enforcer showed up before you even spotted it he would screw you to meet his quota! And even if you had spotted it but needed some time to repair it (maybe you had to go to work first, or catch a bus to buy a repair kit ... or, heaven forbid, decided to put it off for a few days to a more convenient time as it was no danger to anyone sitting in you driveway), he'd get a wood on and go for it. What a poor excuse for a human being!

Looks like Fat Boy is having a power trip, typical of many so-called code enforcers. They should have awarded the defendant/accused some compensation for having to waste his time.

I bought a "street" of homes and asked CE to come out and tell me what I needed to do ASAP as there was a list of violations during the owners bankruptcy (they were a mess). She was nothing but helpful and I tasked a crew with taking care of it. Worked with her for months and she was super professional. On the other side I got ticketed for having too many bikes (16 in a 8 rack) in a rack at an apartment complex. There was a baseball game across the street that day and the kids parked in my lot because of our security - tossed out in 5 minutes -The hearing officers comment - "Really?".
