I still remember years ago when I bought my first house . It has 3/4 of an acre front yard and all I had was a push mower . I started mowing and two of my neighbors came over with riding mowers and had it done in 45 minutes . I'll never forget that day .

I am in a very similar situation atm i live on 4 acres with only a small push mower that a lovely kind lady donated to me , It can take well over a day sometimes 2 days just to mow and with working 6 to 7 days a week trying to make ends meet on single persons income it gets a bit too much to handle and grows fast out of control . ✌️

There are still lots of good, kind people out there. For a couple of years I was really struggling to keep our yard from being all overgrown. We had to let the original landscaping die because of drought and my husband is so allergic to grasses that we have to seal up the house when grass is cut or he goes to the ER. So, I am the only one who can do the yard work. I was in my late 50's and working 60+ hrs a week so there were times I just couldn't get to it. My neighbor, bless him, is so wonderful because whenever he saw I wasn't able to get it done, he would just come over and clean it all up for me. The pandemic gave me the time I needed to redo all the landscaping so we don't have anymore issues with overgrowth but I will always love and appreciate my neighbor for his kindness and help.

Yeah, how dare neighbors have their own lawn to maintain, their vehicles to maintain, their own lives to live, their own loved ones to look after, how dare they! No, let your own life go to the crapper and go help strangers!
@clarky237 ай бұрын
I cry whenever I see videos like yours giving me hope there might still be people out there who want to help their neighbors. About two months after my amputation surgery, the city came to me and said I had seven days to get my yard to code for I would be fined and they would sent crews out to do the job and send me the bill. I didn't have the money to hire anyone and no family left to speak of (and I'm was only 51 at the time, not a elderly senior). So I had to go out in my wheelchair, mow the yard and trim. Almost flipped the mower twice while running. Fell out of my wheelchair at least half a dozen times. Took me four full days. All the neighbors did was sit on their porches with their drinks and watch the spectacle of a newly disabled person try to clean the yard. Not once did they offer to help. One time when I fell out of my wheelchair and looked up, one neighbor even waved at me. I never did anything to these people. Made me decide I could no longer keep my house and put it up for sale. so good for you for doing a service to your community. As for me, after four years of seeing how Americans truly treat the handicapped (once was sitting on hot asphalt to put my wheelchair into my car, I had two men literally walk OVER ME to continue to the store. That's just one story) I had enough, gave on competely on American and accepted a friend's offer to move with him in the Philippines. I will never return to the States.

A church I attended when I was younger used to do this every weekend. A bunch of us guys would get together and go pick out an overgrown property and clean it up. Usually, it was an older couple that couldn't do it or afford it, or someone that had been injured. It's such a great way to serve people.

Totally agree! How absolutely rude! They could have simply welcomed him to the neighborhood and told him it would normally be 10 days but they would extend it to 30 or 60. I'm a planning commissioner in my city and I would have contacted the City Manager and City Council immediately if I heard that happened in our City. It wouldn't. Code enforcement has become the HOA for people who chose not to live with an HOA. I have lived in my town for 30 yrs. and loved it. In the last 5 yrs. it has become filled with condos, overwhelming growth. The new code enforcement patrols our neighborhood at least weekly. I've seen her with her ruler measuring the grass after a week of rain and I and my neighbors on both sides of me got citations. I think it is time to move.

The same thing happened to us when we moved to North Carolina. We moved here from the desert, so we didn’t own a lawnmower. Code enforcement was knocking on our door before we even had all of our furniture in the house. We were literally moving in and they came threatening to ticket us. I think it’s just their way of letting you know what the standards are. That’s certainly some kind of “welcome to the neighborhood”… Luckily for us, the previous owners of this house left a string trimmer and a lawnmower in the shed! We had our lawn mowed and tidied, before we’d unboxed half of our household. It took several years, thereafter, to actually discover the property line, the full extent of the sidewalk, and the curb margins. 😅

What I like a lot about you is you go to strangers and not only do their yards, but also with the same care as if it was yours. I am a mulcher myself, but in this case, you had no choice to bag; this lawn would have choked in 2 days otherwise. The before and after pics at the end are golden portfolio front page material. 👍
