Personally I think Lelouch is still alive, as he gets immortality from his father when he kills him but it doesn't activate until after he's died once so he can stil use his geass until then. Plus nunally sees his memories the same way that Lelouch saw cc's and finally when cc is talking at the end she nods her head to the driver who face we never see and also there a pink origami crane near her the same as the one Lelouch was keeping to remind him of nunally

Or in CC and Lelouch's case, it would be worse if they passed on the curse of immortality onto their children.

Unfortunately we couldn't see Lelouch alive after his first death, but I believe that he's alive because he got his strongest Geass form, what possibly could make him immortal, and by the end of this masterpiece C.C said some words directed to Lelouch and she wanted to die all along the anime but she was happy in the end, probably the man driving the chariot was Lelouch and they were going to live with Jeremiah and Anya because of the way they were going(??) Awesome video by the way :)

Oh he's definitely alive, but not because of his geass, it's because he recieved the code from his father by (being powerful enough to have both eyes with geass,) killing him and by strangling lelouch. remember where the code was? yes, from the right hand of his father. thus make lelouch the same as CC, and he's no longer lelouch, he's RR, get it? lelouch, read in japanese as "reroush", RR -R2. And he now have both the code and the geass (he still has it cause as long as CC is alive, they still have the contract). thus the title, Code Geass R2. :)

Some people like to reject this as mere conjecture, but there are a couple of bulletproof reasons that prove it. 1) When Nunnally touches him at the end, she sees a memory of his (talking with Suzaku)- something that is only possible with a code-bearer (remember it happening earlier in the series with C.C.?) 2) We know that code bearers have their names abbreviated (C.C. and V.V.), but in the actual english and japanese dubs of the show, they are actually called C2 and V2. The title of the second season is "Code Geass R2" In japanese, "R" and "L" have the same pronunciation. R2 -> L2 -> Lelouch (or lelouch lamperouge, but it doesnt matter) -> he has the code. 3) The name of the show is "Code Geass," because Lelouch is the first person to have both of them (the Code from Charles and the Geass from CC). Hope this cleared some things up

Lelouch isnt dead. He gained immortality thanks to C2. Having Geass in both right and left eye means he gained immortality, basicly. There is two endings to this anime. The japanese unrealesed verson where in the end Lelouch drives the cart with C2 on top. The other version official english release is where Lelouch is "dead". But since we also know that he gained both geasses we know he is immortal.

that was one of the best amvs I've seen! I really enjoyed watching it. I love Evanescence and that is such a beautiful song of theirs and CC and Lelouch are my favorite characters. Half right, in the original japanese airing this is true however once it was dubbed this scene was deleted and left up to the audience imagination. However i personally think that my Lelouch is alive and well as by logic he was immortal after killing his father thus gaining his fathers immortality. If you remember his father became immortal after killing V.V. And after Lulu killed is father he went duel eyed geass thus further proving the point hes alive and immortal.

this is also a bit of a spoiler. when Lelouch's geass spread to his other eye he gained the ability to kill those with the code and to do that you need to touch them... so at the moment Lelouch's father touched him the geass transferred thus making lelouch immortal. I know its pretty much what you said Kevin Shen but I was thinking the same thing and thought I may as well throw in my two scents.

He was never seen in the cart, not in the dub and not in the original Japanese version. It was a fan-made scene and someone lied that it was the original Japanese version. The director of code geass has already declared that Lelouch is in fact dead. Lelouch did not kill his father, Charles was "absorbed" by c's-world. And Lelouch went dual geass before Charles was absorbed not after. But dual geass doesn't mean immortality, the code does.

There's something about the mystical sound of the song that feels right with Code Geass' C.C. Good concept, but perhaps showing Lelouch's death at the beginning and more visually showing that C.C. is "mourning" in her own way, perhaps by using an effect that made the scenes seem like memories, would have gotten the feeling across a bit better.
