So I have the same truck as u and I also got the PO456 code. But I’m wondering how u got the check engine light to go off from the dash to check if it was the gas cap or not.

If you already did the “repair “ then you need the OBD scanner to manually turn the check engine light off or you can also simply disconnect your battery for like 5-10 minutes and it should reset by itself . Might have to drive the vehicle around for a bit if you disconnected the battery to relearn idle rpms.

Should the check engine light go off immediately after you turn it on if the gas cap was the issue?

No, your car will run a self-diagnostic, call your local dealership for drive time.

I just bought a after marker cap from orreillys but the guy reset the check engine light but he told me exactly like your video thanks I really hope does not come back and I just get two codes gas cap and and small leak

it's going to be the gas cap so I'm going to pick up a gas cap...and go up there and pick up a gas cap, a brand new gas cap.....more than likely its going to be the gas cap so I'm going to put a gas cap on it. hey can I ask, did you ever get that new gas cap? lol

hey mine was the gas cap too, so I got a new gas cap and put a new gas cap on there and the code is gone!

Hi Guys. I know this post is old, but I have a question. How long you have to drive for the check engine to turn off after the fuel cap was replaced?. I have the same problem in my toyota camry 2003.

I don't think its distance but a certain set of parameters. not exactly sure but what I would do is unplug your negative battery terminal for 2 minutes and then reconnect it. your codes will be erased and if it comes back then you know the cap was not the issue.

Just one last question since I see your MANTD REQD LIGH I have a Yaris 07 which I did the synthetic oil like long time back in June or July my wife just drive it to work like 12 miles daily back and forward WE ARE IN NOVEMBER RIGH NOW and even I'd reset the maintenance light still don't get the reminder light like yours ... So you think a should just go head and changed the oil or wait for the maint REQD light to come on ? Ps just check the oil and still not to dark I know it's synthetic oil....smh!! Just wait for the maint REQD light, most synthetics are good up to 7k+.
