been hearing about the GM MDI2 with the GDS2 software.....some mechanics say this is the only way to go when trying to reset the Nox sensors when replaced. Also, dd you follow the technical service bulletin on DPF regeneration after any Nox sensor replacement which will enable you to complete a Nox sensor replacement. I see you used the Zeus and Edge snapon during the diagnostics and reset. Personally, I am convinced the GDS2 software or the Tech2win software (depending on duramax year model) is not necessary for resetting the emission system once the faulty part has been replaced.

I haven't had any trouble using the Snap-on scanner to do any emission reset on a GM.

I'm getting this code and my truck is losing coolant. The dealer did a pressure test and they said it held for 30 minutes, but I'm thinking the coolant is leaking via the EGR cooler into the exhaust and causing this code. I cannot seem to rely on the Dealer garages for anything, it's so frustrating. In fact, one garage destroyed the engine and it was replaced 30k miles ago. This is a '20 Duramax with 82k miles.

If you're losing coolant, and can't find it, definitely do an oil analysis. Remember, the engine inhales whatever passes through the EGR cooler. It'll show up in the oil. (But so would head gaskets etc.)
@RandomStuff-zt6qf4 ай бұрын
@@joediagnostics Thanks! I did visually inspect the oil and it seems to not have coolant in it... and no condensation on the oil cap. Garage is looking at it next week.
@joediagnostics4 ай бұрын
@@RandomStuff-zt6qf OK. It's definitely possible to detect it in the oil and not see it though. You can usually spot popped coolers without a ton of trouble, so a good shop will get you sorted out.

Thanks for sharing! What handheld gas bench are you using?

The one in the video is a Snap-on bench.

I just replaced the upstream nox sensor and it’s showing no com I went ahead and graphed and it staying way out of range at right about 65575 this doesn’t seem right

You're right. That's not a correct reading. What code did you have to start with? What code have you got now?

@@anthonyrodriguez243 If a new NOx Sensor didn't fix it, check to make sure you put the correct one in there, and check the serial data lines to it from the PCM. I don'[t believe there are any other sensors on those lines, so it should be easy to check them.

Did you buy the gas bench or did the shop?

Do u have a video on how to fix this? I just bought a 2018 3500 Denali that tripped this code on a 1600 mile trip back home

This code can be a lot of things, not just NOx sensors. Make sure you diagnose it properly before replacing anything.

How do you determine whether or not the scr is failing? I'm having the p20ee code on my 18 l5p denali but the weird thing is that it only comes on after I fail to let it regen? I cleared the code and enabled manual regen stays off for a few hundred miles and comes right back. I've heard it could be the def nozzle or the nox sensor.

Start with reading inlet NOx vs. outlet NOx on your scanner. Have you got good reduction at steady cruise?

you didn't show the knock sensor that was bad on the vehicle it much better you can show which knock sensor it was

Unless I'm wrong about what you're asking, the videos states, and shows that it is NOx sensor #2 that is failed. Then it shows what the data is supposed to look like once it is fixed.
