On April 23, 2024, police were dispatched to the Family Fare grocery store in Midland, MI, to investigate a suspicious incident. The store manager reported that a contractor working on the roof had stumbled upon a 34-year-old woman, known as the 'roof ninja,' residing inside the store's rooftop sign. The sign had been transformed into a mini-apartment, containing items such as a printer, pantry, desk, and coffee maker. It was subsequently discovered that she had been residing there for quite a while.

Her daughter performed highly in academics. She confided in my dad and I once that people sneak into her house every night and grape her without her waking up then sneak back out. She was being 100% sincere, just like this person was. This lady was extremely eloquent. I have an IQ in the 140s and I could tell she was easily as intelligent as me of more. Both her and the woman in this video make me think of the "intelligence is prone to neuroticism" which I think is extremely true, especially in certain youngian types. My buddy, who is also extremely intelligent, married a girl who is very nice, has her masters degree, is pretty much a concert violinist who can play multiple instruments who is now in her 30s and doesn't have her drivers license because she has an EXTRME irrational fear of driving. Shes an INTJ. My girlfriend is an INFJ and shes extrmely prone to anxiety too. John Nash Jr was a nobel laureate who was a genius polymath from Princeton. Due to stresses of life and his wife having a baby, he literally lost his mind for years into a state of paranoid schizophrenia. He being nominated for a Nobel prize brought he back to reality, regrounding him. The book/movie A Beautiful Mind was based on his life. She gives me those vibes. The goofy lady that visited my church gave me the same.

Yeah, she seems like she could possibly be a very high functioning mentally ill individual. I’m not saying it judgmentally I myself have PTSD and bipolar one disorder and OCD so I completely know and understand what it’s like to not be in control of your own thoughts. As someone who has been homeless in the winter, i genuinely feel for her. It wasnt right to be up there but at the same time, when youre out of options its way more about staying alive and creating small comforts than it is about following laws. She managed to find a safe shelter out of the weather and out of the public eye for about a year, and she left when instructed to do so with minimal arguing.

Honestly I don't see her as delusional. Based on her described experience, she maybe just decided to take that path intentionally and treat it as a lifestyle. She seems very capable of living according to social norms, evidenced by the fact she is working and has a completely functional and well kept "home", but instead chooses to live the way she does. The Manager was really nice with this. Everyone was. They weren't treating her like a less person, and they were willing to let her go, AND collect all of her stuff and arrange a time for her to get it. You CANNOT run into a nicer situation than this.

@@runninwildwithmilwaukeebuck They were quite obviously genuinely intrigued and compassionate. They didn't harass her or try to bully anything unnecessary out of her. The one cop was even joking with her about it. The only time they pressed her a little further, and more sternly, was when they wanted to know how she got up and down from the roof. The company needs to know that so they can put something there to block her or anyone else from doing it again. Especially now that it is all over the internet. It's a fair question, which she never did answer and they left it at that. They will have a look around and figure it out on their own. It is unnecessary to be reaching for reasons to complain about the officers conduct here. Can you not just allow a well-performed police interaction to be as it is at face value? You don't need to read anything into it.

She’s an ex military and not handling it well or maybe she is. She says “I’m trying to live a normal civilian life” “safe space” She’s been able to avoid interacting with the public and law enforcement while living on a roof. She’s got not record, so she’s not a thief. Speaks without giving away too much information but raises no flags when she was talking with the officer. She has “safe spaces” all over town and no ones reporting her. She’s military age. Look at her body language and actions under “investigation/interrogation” Totality of the circumstances- I’m not saying this in a negative way- I have 3 siblings who are in the Army, Navy & Air Force currently, two of their kids are in the military, dad & grandpa served. I’m familiar with the situation is all. Heck, I’d like to hear her story.

I thought that too. Military seems like the only reason she would choose those specific words. She did say some other odd things too. Like "in 20 years if my memory doesn't get messed with I won't go back up there". That's weird right? She seemed like she was crying a little when she said that, near the end when the officer was begging her not to go back up there because he really didn't want to arrest her. I think those officers were impressed, intrigued, and genuinely compassionate towards her. That was nice to see. But I am so dang curious now as to why she is so determined to be invisible in every way. Do ex-military people with PTSD have problems with memory? I think she was referring to whether or not she'd remember where the 'safe place' was in 20 years. I don't know. She definitely does not feel safe on the ground or near anyone. She even said she stays on rooftops because people generally don't go up there to steal or bother her. She feels safe on top of roofs. Like, that is specific and odd. Ingenious, but still odd.

Getting sold a BS story of American exceptionalism and greatness by rich politicians that would never send their own kids to serve only to be traumatized and to be extremely lucky to come back home alive and not missing any limbs. Then when you get back state side you realize no one gives a damn what you did and sacrificed for them. You call the VA to ask about medical assistance and they either never call you back or they tell you that your situation isn't covered. You end up turning to drugs for temporary relief even though you know it's wrong. You end up homeless within 5 years because you don't have any support system to help you and nowt he police and government consider you a threat because of the training they gave you. What part of that doesn't qualify as down on your luck?
