Ben Diskin mentioned his _Kids Next Door_ auditions in so many interviews regarding how he got Numbuh 1 and Numbuh 2, but originally Tom Warburton (the creator of KND) wanted Sue Rose (the voice of Angela Anaconda and the creator of Pepper Ann) to voice Numbuh 2, but at the request of voice director Collette Sunderman she told him just let other folks audition for the role to which Tom agreed. Ben auditioned for Numbuh 2 and Numbuh 4, the latter going to Dee Bradley Baker, but Ben got Numbuh 2. For Numbuh 1, Tom Warburton originally wanted Tom Kenny to voice him as he previously had him in another pilot, _Kenny and the Chimp_ but felt he wasn’t the right voice for him and then got an actual twelve year old to voice him and although he did a good job, his voice changed so Tom decided to have Numbuh 1 recast again, so Ben and Dee auditioned for Numbuh 1 and eventually Ben won the role and he now voices two signature characters in the show.

So about the Kenny and Chimpy segment. Originally, the main show was gonna revolve around them, with the KND being support characters appearing every now and then, but what was picked to become a show was KND. That's why both segments feel so different from one another

It's actually kind of crazy how far back they we heard Dee Bradley Baker's voice in cartoons like KND and never would have thought he'd be voicing every Clone Trooper in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

No way your doing KND, this is so exciting and I think the both of you are going to enjoy this series and while the earlier episodes were episodic the season 1 finale and certain episodes for later seasons did had an ongoing storyline and continuity, so basically this was before we’ve gotten _Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Owl House,_ and _Amphibia_ which were other animated series known for their serialized storylines which start of episodic but became serialized overtime. Also the voice of Numbuh 1 and Numbuh 2 were voiced Ben Diskin and he was the youngest actor from the KND Sector V division and worked on the Pilot when he was 17-18 years old and in his early 20’s when working on the show.

Just so you guys know. That A character in the Chimp short is a foreshadowing of one of them being in the KND cast. All you need to know is that the short you saw is a one time thing as this show was shown for us kids to vote for to being a main cartoon lineup. KND and Billy and Mandy won that contest we voted for.

If you guys aren't aware of Kenny & the Chimp. It was a pilot made by the same creator who made KND that premiered in 1999. Two years before the KND pilot No P in the ool aired. I remember watching Kenny & the Chimp when I was a kid and I thought it was hilarious.

You know he appeared in the 70's movie "Grease". I'm not kidding. He played a random character named Eugene who was a dorky kid. His voice sounded the same back then. I even saw him in a Kirk Cameron movie called "The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes", which was remake from the original Disney classic.

The Kids Next Door battle against adults and teenagers, but I can't help but feel that they'd get along well with the Teen Titans. -Numbuh 1 the strong capable leader like Robin. -Numbuh 2 is the skilled inventor like Cyborg. -Numbuh 3 is cheerful but not to be messed with like Starfire. -Numbuh 4 may be dim but a badass like Beast Boy. -Numbuh 5 is cool and wise like Raven.

So, the reason Kenny and the Chimp feels like it's an episode of a different show is because it effectively is. Kenny was originally supposed to be the protagonist of the series and the Kids Next Door were supposed to be recurring side character who would periodically get the own short episodes (think The Justice Pals from Dexter's Laboratory or all of the non Warner sibling characters from Animaniacs). However, when Tom Warburton showed the pilot to Cartoon Network, the executives were much more interested in The Kids Next Door and test audiences respond much better towards their half of the episode. The disease lab episode and the No P in OOL were part of the original pilot, C.A.K.E.D is considered the first episode of the series proper, as it was the first created after Mr. Warburton refined the concept and finalized that the show was going to be about the KND.
