The beginning is so 90s style bouncy, it sounds so sick!

The first thing I thought when I heard this track, specifically at the beginning was "this has some strong Broken/Downward Spiral NIN vibes in it"

8. “Splinter the Soul” “Musically, this is a little bit Nine Inch Nails, a little bit Pantera, with an Alice [In Chains] chorus. We thought that would be a cool hybrid, sonically. It’s about the struggle of always trying to get to the next lily pad, about how it might feel better to just splinter the soul to take back control, like death by suicide as opposed to getting killed. I think we all have that human impulse in us to take it away from ourselves so no one can take it away from us.” (c) Jami Morgan

This makes si much sense. The verse is very reminiscent of NIN’s “No, You Don’t”, the riff in the chorus is AIC-esque and the breakdown is straight up Pantera.

Sounds like Jeffrey nothing singing with a static/powerman 5000 beat

Man, Jeffery was so cool wasn't he? I love basically all his work with Mushroomhead, and that first solo album The New Psychodalia was fucking nuts.Sadly after he was fired from MRH he became a devout Christian and the material for his second solo effort seems to be suffering as a result. I would imagine it's hard to write dark, horrific, evil songs like he was once proficient at, when your heart is full of Jesus juice. I think that's a euphemism for holy sperm, not sure 😂 not everyone can pull an Alice Cooper or Dave Mustaine and become religious without allowing it to interfere with your art.

new code orange is so crazy man. they're doing a style i absolutely hate, with no irony whatsoever, but they commit to it so well that it ends up being good anyway. total WWE anthem monster energy trailer park bullshit but it's just so cool that i don't even care. will always support them

honestly its not even that deep, this stuff is deeply inspired by 90s grunge/alt rock & alt metal, filtered through 00s NiN. highly respected rock bands ppl werent embarrassed to listen to, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Smashing Pumpkins, L7, alt metal like Helmet, Korn, Deftones, Rage Against the Machine, groove metal like Pantera & White Zombie. It's pretty clearly the glory days of alt rock & alt metal they're inspired by, mixed with their industrial hardcore niche. i almost feel like the weakness of mainstream rock/metal the last couple decades has messed with ppls heads so that the only frame of reference ppl have for hard rock with melodies anymore besides emo metalcore is post-grunge butt rock. But there was more hard rock music than Chevelle & Creed & whatevertf, it played on the radio but wasnt written just to be played on the radio, there were memorable riffs & hooks, ppl listened to it and werent ashamed of it.

The whole album is not horrible, but it's songs like these that make you question the artistic vision. No, Jami, this is not what metal needed.

Oh shit wasn't aware you were the official spokesperson for metal and metal needs
@Mantrapolis2 ай бұрын
You get what Jami was really saying tho right? He meant metal needs versatility, & they more than delivered on that

I dont get why people ride tnis bullshit bandwagon of saying this band is good. This sucks the root so bad. I bet they are in the mirror working on their choreographed tough guy stage moves. This is parody at best
@-modern.love.story- Жыл бұрын
Bro what really kills me is the people who say this is the band evolving, and if you don't like it it's cause you're a gatekeeper or elitist or some bullshit. It's like.. nahhh, this is just some cash grab TRASH. This band sold the fuck out. They devolved.
