I read several at once. One or two physical books, an audio book, and an e-book for me, 2-4 books I am reading with my kids for homeschool, and this year I have a book that will take the whole year to read slowly because it has entries of nature observations throughout a year.

A Marvellous Light is so good! It was one of my favorite books last year. The writing is lovely, and the romance is delightful. It's definitely more romance than mystery, and it's a lot of fun

So many books I’ve read or plan to read. I also have Sword of Kaigen and The Five on my tbr. I LOVE Lore Olympus, Book Lovers, The Green Bone Saga, and everything Elizabeth Acevedo! I really enjoyed A River Enchanted, Nettle and Bone, The Hating Game, and Finlay Donovan. I know so many people love them, but I was personally disappointed with A Marvelous Light and The Kiss of Deception (I pushed through the series because I bought the series and spin-off thinking I’d be obsessed 😢). Looking forward to seeing your thoughts on all of these! ❤

I recently read Amari and the Great Game, and I would 100% recommend rereading book 1, or at least checking out a detailed recap as there were a lot of details I'd forgotten 😊 also, I love the audiobooks for them both and would definitely recommend those!

A Marvellous Light was my favorite illumicrate book that I read last year ( I haven't read A River Enchanted yet though) : aside from the romance, I really enjoyed the magic system and the general plot. Fruits Basket is my favorite manga ever so I'm happy to see it on the list ! I haven't read any other books on the list so not thought on those. Except maybe on Alexis Henderson : I've read The Year of the Witching two weeks ago and was very much underwhelmed by it. Since we seem to share the same feeling about it, I'm curious to see what your opinion on House of Hunger is going to be.

Kaigen: In Japanese the 'ai' sound is like 'eye' and the 'e' sound here is like the first vowel in 'Emily' or like 'test' (similar to the last syllable in 'sumimasen' which sounds like 'sent' without the t: soo-mee-maw-sen) To be more specific-- 'a' is like 'la' and 'i' is like 'ee' and when you say them quickly they form the diphthong that sounds like 'eye'

ps This is REALLY HARD to do when translating how I, an American, pronounce words compared to a British accent. 😂Kept testing words/spellings on Mr Shelf (British) and then scowling cause he says them wrong, lmao
