how did you get all the variables to have their individual columns?

Please I have one question: For the multiple response questions, there may be a blank space because a person chose a different option or it may be missing data, like the person didn't answer the question at all. How do you discriminate this when coding- how to allocate '2' or '99'?

Hi Koi, sorry i didn't see this message before. If it's multiple choice then you should allocate blanks as 2 meaning 'no'. As 99 means missing data but in the case of multiple choice its not missing data because they actively chose not to select that option, so it gets a 2 (meaning no) and anything they did select gets a 1 ( meaning yes). Hope this helps!

Meaning 'no' can also be allocated by using 0, right??

Where is your data from? If from online surveys use the export function. If it's on paper, simply open an Excel file, have your questions in each separate column along the top row. Each row under that will be a participants answers.

What happens if you have ranked data?
@AnthonyCliffePHD
@AnthonyCliffePHD 4 жыл бұрын
Ranked data you should just leave it as is i.e if your question was please rank the following with 1 being most important and 5 the least. If they've put 1 leave it as 1, 2 leave as 2 etc. Then in SPSS where it asks for the code name just leave as 1,2 etc :)
