300 Miles from Home & My Truck Breaks Down. We had an unexpected delay on our way to Utah. The Hummer H3 had an exhaust issue that stranded us in Oklahoma. We had to leave it with the great guys at Checotah Auto Repair in Checotah, Oklahoma / checotahautorepair .
After that, our plans had changed. Therefore, we decided to rent a car and stay a few days in the state while the H3 is repaired. We traveled on east to Red Rock Canyon Adventure Park near Hinton, Oklahoma. www.redrockcan... The next day we explored this amazing state park.
The following day we traveled further south to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. This place was breathtaking. www.fws.gov/re...
After that we drove to Medicine Park and had dinner at Riverside Café.

My dad lived *in* the Wichita Mts near crater lake when he was a kid. I have always loved the Wichita Mtns. Carrie Underwood is from Checotah Ok. Those were the best looking Philly cheesesteak sandwiches I ever saw. Not gonna rest until I either make some or go find one. Liked and subscribed!

It’s a collard lizard. We always called them Mountain Boomers. I just found your channel and love it. My wife and I enjoy a lot of the same things but being just a little bit older, we do it a little less “rough” (meaning we camp in a trailer).

Enjoyed your video. We love going to Medicine Park and the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge two to three times a year. In your research, you mentioned you probably read about the Meers Fault it is a fault in Oklahoma that extends from Kiowa County to Comanche County. It is marked by a 14-16 mile long conspicuous fault scarp but the fault extends beyond the ends of this scarp. The Meers fault is part of a group of faults that lie between the Anadarko Basin and the Wichita Mountains.

We just got stationed at Sheppard AFB. Looking forward to hitting this area up. Just had an idea for you guys. Since this is kind of your thing what if you did a series of armed forces videos. One of the hard parts about us moving so much is finding GOOD SPOTS to hike or camp at. If you guys went to areas near bases it would likely help out some military folks who are looking for local adventure. Anyways, just a thought. Thanks for the vid.

Wow, y'all are hitting all my old stomping grounds. When I was like 2, my parents moved us from Louisiana to SE Oklahoma. So I was in Oklahoma for 11 years of my childhood. If you ever get a chance, or maybe you have, the Quartz Mountain area West, and just North of Lawton OK is one of those hidden gems you find all across this wonderful country. I can tell I am going to enjoy your content, so glad I found your channel.

Hello from South Carolina! Another amazing video that motivates me and inspires me. Fiance and I are going camping again in GA this weekend. I am packing later this week (wait for it) our RAV4 to begin our adventure. We will let you know how we do. Hopefully we will set up camp the Dome Life way and go exploring, including kayaking. Mountain bikes will come later this summer! One request since we are beginners: could you consider shooting a video where you cover such info as beginner trail bikes and beginner trails (what to look for), hiking apparel (possible dome life future merch), including shoes. Always excited to see new posts you two! See you on the other!

I tried to go hiking at the Wichita Mountains a few weekends ago (crazy amount of people had the same idea!). They practically have 1/2 of the park that is accessible to the public closed. One half of the refuge is wild preserve and is never open to the public at any time. We ended up doing some off-trail hiking in the area just southwest of Mt Scott. Found a waterfall I had never seen before. The Elk Mountain trail is a good one for sure (once they open that part of the park again). Tremendous view from the top, which has a wide plateau area to explore. I've hiked there in the fall and have hiked for miles without seeing another hiker. You do not want to go there in mid summer, as daily highs easily reach 100F +++

Just watched the Oklahoma vlog. First off that really sucks what happened to the hummer, yet you still turned it into a positive. Great episode. Just one question. There was a quick shot you did on what looked like a nest of really ugly frightening little spiders. I went to college for a Zoology degree and specialized in herpetology. Reptiles and specifically snakes are a passion. Nothing much bothers me with the exception of arachnids. WHAT THE HELL WERE THOSE? Otherwise awesome vlog!
