One positive I've noticed in regard to the struggle of being in the moment while filming question: While constantly recording, planning, setting up a tripod, etc. can definitely detract from being in the moment I've found that looking at your surroundings through a film-making perspective makes you appreciate the small details more-so than someone who is not. I find myself constantly looking closely and appreciating little things like leaves, flowers, creeks, sun rays, sounds (the wind through the trees at night 🤤) because of how they look/sound on video which can draw you even closer to your environment! Just my $0.2, great Q&A guys!

My wife and I have been doing kiteboarding for 2 years now. With roughly weekly frequency. The learning curve is steep and it takes a good season to learn the ropes and a water start, but on the bright side it is not physical since you are attached by a harness to a kite. So you may push away the Alzheimer by learning new tricks in your 70s. Great community, lots of fun and you don't notice how time passes. You may start out in a river, lake, a Bay or a harbor, though eventually you would want the ocean. If there is a wind, there is a way!

I love your channel so much! About 12:00 in the video you talk about not being able to be in the moment when thinking about filming. I also film a lot(but only small fractions end up becoming videos) and I find that I can give myself the time to relax and do "real" stuff when the camera is rolling - if I just bring big memory cards and don't mind having extra hours of really long footage. I sometimes just turn on the camera and go do real stuff like pitch the tent or just getting lost in thoughts sitting on some rock, and I lot of times I forget I am even filming. When that happened, I used to panic about card storge and battery life, but if I bring an abundance of both I feel like I can truly enjoy the adventure more.

First off, how is that adorable cattle-dog puppy!? Second, if you do make it up to Washington, give us a holler and I can show you some epic trails that few people tread. Gus would love to play with your puppy. Oh and lots of bear encounters here, but nothing dangerous... Last thought, get pet medical insurance. Gus had cancer and the bill was over 10k and the insurance paid 90% of it.

@stog98213 жыл бұрын
If you hike enough in the western US you will encounter rattlesnakes, though frankly, rarely. They’ll avoid you if they can, but they are out there and can be hard to spot unless they sound off. There are also black bears but they usually just run off. Just don’t disrespect them as they can hurt you. Grizzlies can be found in the more sparse western states and are dangerous. Mountain lions are more and more common but again are seldom seen. Loose rocks on a steep trail might be the biggest hazard. (skunks. I forgot about skunks. Don’t bother them either) I lived in Australia for a bit and did come to a conclusion that if it moves be careful.
