3:13 fun fact firecrackers were made from Gunpowder in 1916, an engineer working for Hitts Fireworks Company in Seattle had the idea to add the flash powder (then used in flash photography) to the mix. The key ingredient in flash powder was aluminum, and when the new “flashlight firecrackers” or “flash crackers” exploded, they gave off a bright light and had a stronger report. Technically all USA firecrackers are flashcrackers because we no longer use Gunpowder but I believe they still make Gunpowder firecrackers in Europe.

At times, the deceptive box fountains were supposed to be a way to put a base on a small cheap fountain, just so it would stand up. After years of this, greed took over and even the manufacturers forgot why they were supposed to be doing it.

I feel like the deception in assortments should become illegal one day. It's essentially IRL clickbait or false advertising if you think about it. When I buy an assortment, I want to know what I'm getting. I don't want to be tricked. Feels much better to get a 6 pack of assorted tube fountains rather than 1 deceiving box fountain.

I agree and this is one of the better assortments this one is at least more packed for a smaller one but still tons of hollow boxes 📦 of emptiness….I miss dot assortments I demo’d a small dot square box fountain STUFFED W FIVE TUBES THE OTHER DAY ON MY CHANNEL….after the 80s assortments became RIP OFF CENTRAL thx to Phantom and TNT lots of hollow boxes to take space and all the major companies followed !! Disgraceful…..great vid as always though

Well make it mandatory to report the net explosive mass (NEM) of each item + and for the whole assortment on the side of the product. This would make it a lot easier to spot this kind of BS. European Union countries use this kind of system. We don't have "200g" and "500g" cakes, but rather "187.8g", "290g", "475g" and so on. Cody and others should continue to spread awareness: Bigger physical size doesn't necessarily mean better product when it comes to fireworks. It's inside that matters. In Europe they are actually making fireworks as small as possible to reduce shipping and storing costs. I have two cakes that have little over 2500g NEM, but they are physically smaller than some of American "500g" cakes

7:53 Fun fact: when I was 5 years old we were celebrating the 4th in my driveway when my dad lit one of these. Being 5, I thought it looked a lot like dog poop, which my neighbors enjoyed leaving un scooped. In probably my funniest moment, I said “What did that dog eat?!” referring to the dog poop. We still joke about that to this day!

I always like these assortments u come across. This would be a nice one to have to light off while the family is over on the forth during the day when your cooking and hosting a party for people to have fun with till the show later on 👍🏼💪🏼. Agreed on the safety issue. The county I live in did three 30-minute shows last Saturday and one show caused 5 brush fires. Good thing they had the fire department on site. So dry here in Colorado it’s scary.

In defense of the box fountains with the single tube. They do need some of that size to keep them stable for ground use out of the box and square boxes are easier to package and keep in place than tubes with a square or round plastic base. Otherwise they'd require something to hold them in place and many consumers aren't going to think safely enough to do that. I just really hate the ones where the tube doesn't go down the whole way and the box becomes top heavy. Those serve no purpose but to be fire hazards. But I always use pavers to prop up fountains of all sizes or I glue them to boards.

Instead of housing the small tube fountain in a box they could add a plastic base to it like they normally do when it’s not being sold in an assortment. The box fountains in assortments are a filler item to make the assortment look bigger lol

Box fountains certainly take up unnecessary space. And they kinda make the fountains look larger than they are. Larger fountains used to have a plastic base here, to prevent them from tipping over. Now they’re using boxes instead to limit the use of plastic. I’d personally prefer a clay base on the larger fountains, but as fae as boxes go, I dont mind them if its to prevent them from tipping over while not using plastic.
