In 2012, when bitcoin was sub-$20, I had $6,000 set aside that I was going to invest in bitcoin, and I was told ALL MY LIFE, “Listen to your elders.” So I thought, yea, I’ll do that. My dad was a CPA and later an account manager for fuel contracts for a major power company, and my uncle was a CEO for a major bank in my city for many years. They both said, “It’s too risky, you shouldn’t invest.” I learned, “if it’s tech related, I _CLEARLY_ know better, screw what my elders say.” SMFH... I lost hard.

Basically the creator of a new coin will message influencers to sponsor them and will either give them money or some of the coin. The influencers will promote the coin on social media and when their fans start buying a ton of the coin, the price of the coin will go up. Once the influencers/creators/early buyers see it start to peak, they sell all of the coin to make a decent profit. This leaves all the fans who bought a bunch of the coin with no money and a worthless coin.

You don't determine shit, you just know how a market is influenced before the info reach general public. Also: the problem with a lot of people who put a load of their net worth into crypto is they aren't doing it because they believe in the coin, they're doing it because they think *they'll* be smart enough to get out before a crash. Rarely are they.
@awesomesauce53673 жыл бұрын
@Nessa yeah I don’t buy anything but ETH, BTC, and DASH and have tripled my money. Obviously I didn’t put like half my savings in like some people are doing and the crash kinda hurt me but I’ve still made a net profit. I think crypto can be good to invest in you just have to be careful like any investment and obviously not put too much of your money in
@kiraPh1234k3 жыл бұрын
@@awesomesauce5367 Stop. You cannot call pure gambling "a good investment". Let me ask you something, do you think US citizens have US dollars because of "investing"? No, currency is for buying and selling goods in. That's where literally ALL of it's value comes from. For cryptocurrency like Bitcoin, the rampant gambling has destabilized the price so much that buying and selling goods is no longer realistic with it. It has removed value from the coin. And yet, the price goes up and down. Why? Because people THINK others will PAY MORE FOR IT LATER. This again, is pure gambling. The price fluctuation is happening based purely on opinion, not on anything related to the currency or it's usage. It's like ForEx trading but without an actual backing economy to make predictions from, unless you actually use it to buy and sell goods just as you do your local currency (such as the US dollar). Gambling/speculation are NOT investing. That's like saying you're "investing" in the casino when you are just playing slots.
@awesomesauce53673 жыл бұрын
@@kiraPh1234k dude I just buy it when the market crashes and then when Bitcoin doubles I sell. calm down. I bought Bitcoin at 32,000 and sold at 61,000 so I just about doubled my money. it’s pretty easy to do the market cycles a lot and yeah it crashes but you just have to notifications on and if it crashes it’ll let you know and you make the decision to sell or stay. I don’t really give a shit about whether it will replace the dollar or anything I’m just making money and I’ve already made thousands so. It’s not the same as gambling because there’s a clear cycle to if if you understand how it works and have notifications of price fluctuations on
@kiraPh1234k3 жыл бұрын
@@awesomesauce5367 "There's a clear cycle" - No, there's speculation that you incorrectly confuse with a "cycle". Again, these price changes are due purely to morons speculating (and no, it's not hyperbolic to call these people morons.). As for doubling your money; Yeah, gambling has high payouts. However, keep in mind you didn't just magically double your money. You took money from other people stupid enough to think that it was an investment. For ever person who makes money through this, there are a great many more losing it. Btw that cycle of telling people to "invest" in something and then selling when they do so is called a "pump and dump" in the financial market. It also seems to be what you're set up doing, in that you're trying to convince people of the same and have alerts set up do when they do "invest", you take their money. There is no actual pattern, just like wearing the same pair of underwear doesn't make your favorite team win. You may think there's a pattern, but there's not. It is pure gambling (though you can increase your odds by embracing the scams like pump and dumping). You're buying on speculation, which is by definition gambling. Speculation is the word we use to describe what you are calling a "cycle", where you are operating based on beliefs instead of deductions to make your decision. And most importantly for everyone: MOST PEOPLE LOSE MONEY BY BUYING CRYPTO -- YOU CANNOT EARN MONEY THIS WAY WITHOUT MANY OTHERS LOSING MONEY, ITS VERY SIMPLE MATH. THIS MONEY ISN'T COMING FROM NOWHERE I guess the funniest part though is that the more money you earn like this, the more likely you are to lose it unless you're very scam-minded. You keep buying when all the scammers sell, assuming there's an infinite supply of suckers to keep losing their money on BTC, and the more you do this the more confident you are that the suckers will never stop. Problem is, the longer you go on the less likely there are going to be surges from suckers. It gets riskier and riskier and then it's too late to get out. Unfortunate as it happens to most of those who make money on there without realizing what the scam is as they never want to get out and the scam will finish. You have the right to spend your money how you choose. But this is gambling and i don't want you misrepresenting that as "investing". You can gamble as much as you like.

It's basically nerds trying to make bank off of a currency in the case of bitcoin which is pretty much only good for making illegal transactions. Now some coins do have more practical uses like stellar lumens and hence have been labled stable coins because they are tied to something real financially. Anyone who pretends to understand what will happen with bitcoin(at least within any immediate future) is totally bullshitting.

Currency in general doesn’t provide a service or produce a product (unless you count BoA locking ur card when you buy something at the grocery store you’ve been going to for years), but you invest a lot of time into that to get banknotes and coins that are only valuable bc the government says it is not the actual worth of the product. And for the most part cash is used less frequently nowadays. The big difference is just that it’s decentralized, where usually the government regulates it. But also thats definitely a good reason to be skeptical, also the fact that bitcoin computers use the same amount of energy as the entire nation of switzerland in a year.
