On November 21, 2024, Dr. Tim McGuine, PhD, ATC, Research Scientist in the Division of Sports Medicine, Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health joined the Active Girls Healthy Women Program for a Coffee Talk. Dr. McGuine's spoke about, "Keeping kids in sports…It’s a public health issue".
Dr. McGuine and his team established the Wisconsin Sports Injury Research Network, through which a team of licensed ATCs and coaches collect prospective research data in diverse high school and club sport settings. His research focus is to better understand the incidence, risk factors, prevention techniques and health related outcomes for injuries and other conditions that can impact the health of adolescent athletes. He serves on the Sports Medicine Advisory Committees for both the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association and the National Federation of High Schools.
