I digging that new Carhartt jacket. I love my Traditional Coat and this one seems like an unlined version of the Traditional for spring weather. The handwarmer/dump pockets are phenomenal. Great design. Style-wise, I would have preferred buttons over a zipper, in the trucker or rider jacket mold. But the zipper is probably more practical for actually working in. Good job Carhartt!

On the "gentleman's knife" topic. I say just get a victorinox SD or whatever size you want. My knife journey went full circle. I got a few different folding knives big, small, fancy steel, different shaped blades and then now I'm back where I started with victorinox. Cheap, small, doesn't scare people, opens every box it encounters.

The rant about Brunt is exactly how you're going to continue to grow trust in your subscriber base. It's not because you're trashing a company per se... it's that you're being fully transparent and expecting the same out of companies. Absolutely love it. I'm with you on the time thing, too.. I haven't made a video in a while, and right as I start to feel bad, I remember that I'm a full-time solo parent of two middle schoolers, and I have two jobs. lol, so... my next video will drop when it drops!! Cheers, Carl. Have a great week!

Of the CRKTs, the Padawan would be your best workhorse knife: strongest lock type with a solid history of secure use & the most useable blade in the best non-premium steel there is (with CRKT's reliable heat treat). Cheers & happy hunting

I carried a CRKT M16 for years; That thing made the most satisfying click when flipped open! Pain in the ass to sharpen, though.

Probably the knife you had Carl which people were talking about was the Benchmade Narrows. I have Benchmades and I still rotate them in, however the knife I've carried everyday to work for probably 3 years now is the southern grind bad monkey. Zac Brown has done alot of good since becoming a household name. My vote would be for the second knife. The first one looks to tactical for you.

Barnyard resistant leather I first heard from Carolina a couple if years ago. I think when you're walking around in cow slop with a lot of urea and dung acids is where that comes from. But why not wear a pair if Muck boots?

I don’t do any social media, so I thought I would throw this out here. Origin Maine has a new video with a sneak peek at fall 2024 products and it looks like they are going to have full workwear products. I bought their MOAB pants, they are cut a little bit differently than their jeans. Had to order a size up but look like a good pair of pants. Just haven’t done any wear testing. Looking forward to the next coffee.

The CRKT I might spring for is the Minimal X Frame Lock. It was designed for Space X employees, not the best knife steel but it looks like it can serve a bunch of different purposes and sharpen easily. That Padewan looks pretty sweet as well. Its basic shape looks like a frame lock version of the CRJB Pyrite Alt (one of my favorite edc knives).

I picked up that Carhartt Relaxed Fit Duck Jacket. I'd much prefer it had shoulder gussets and the arms were slimmed down a little, and the arm holes raised, I don't have small arms, but I found it baggy in the arms. But it's still a great jacket. I crossed shopped with the Taylor Stitch Workhorse Utility jacket, very very similar style. The Taylor Stitch has slimmer arms, nothing tight, but comes with the shoulder gussets for flexibility, and is lined.

I have the M21!! Have had it for years actually. It was gifted to me by a close friend. I love the pocket pull tab for quick and easy deployment, although It’s a bit too bulky/aggressive for an EDC IMO but different strokes. The duel lock takes a bit of getting used to and the serrations are a pain to sharpen yourself. You’ll need the right size of rat tail file. I don’t think a standard chainsaw file will do. It is solidly built and the tip is strong enough to do a fair amount of prying without bending. Also, the grip is very good. Stays firm in the hands even when they are coated with the blood of your enemies… I mean grease… the grease of your enemies.

Of the three, I’d go Padawan. I’m digging the Bel Air from Kershaw. Magnacut blade, crossbar lock, bearings. I like knives with finger safe locking mechanisms.

Thank you, Carl. I mostly like knives that don't look like weapons. I do carry a combo blade Spyderco Tenacious (s35vn steel)for work but it's the only serrated pocket knife I own. The CRKT Squid is my 5th pocket carry when I'm not working. The budget knife I'm tempted by right now is the CJRB Hectare with the bright yellow handle....completely non threatening. I also think the Civivi Elementum with the ultem scales is super classy looking. Of the 3 you presented I like the Padawan best, especially with the micarta inlay.

My CRKT M16-13Z and M16-10KZ have seen my older brother (millwright) through some punishment and then myself for about another decade of abuse. Still have both. The 10kz even survived a motorcycle trip from Miami, FL to Alaska. Don’t know how I didn’t lose it. I’d like to see the CEO micro flipper. Looks different from their lineup and It would be cool to see how it compares to its more tactical counterparts. Another heavy hitter of a video🤘

CRKT has really improved in the last 2-3 years, they were the butt of jokes for most people in the knife world but now their offerings are far better than Kershaw in the budget knife space (Kerhsaw's Launch series of autos are great). I say get the CEO! Richard Rogers, the custom knife maker who designed it, is a nice guy with great eye for design. The M21 is a classic, but it will always be there (plus the steel is pretty bad even for a budget knife). If you're also looking at knives under $100, it's hard not to recommend some of the chinese companies like Civivi, Artisan Cutlery, Real Steel, etc. They're made in China, but so are the CRKT's (generally).
@chrisbecker90298 ай бұрын
echoing this, I would check out brands like Civivi, Miguron, Kizer, Vosteed and CJRB, going to find great knives under $100.

I've never been a fan of CRKT knives as working knives. The steel is rather soft unless you manage to get the D2 steel (which is a bit more of a pain to sharpen). For my working knives I prefer Zero Tolerance. My current one is the 0545 (mostly because I like the look of carbon fiber).

Carl, would you mind helping me with something please? I'm going to order the Satchel Paige Montgomery jacket and they're recommending a large for me. I'm a really lean dude, 5, 10" 185 lbs. I see you've mentioned a few time that you bought a large but some comments say they contacted S&P who said you actually received the XL. Could you please help clarify this? It would be really helpful in picking the right size for me.

Thanks, I've already taken that step, but this jacket is quite expensive. Since everyone, including Carl, has emphasized the sizing of this specific jacket, I would like to ensure the fit is as accurate as possible.

Barnyards where animals go dooty have a much higher acidic content in the manure and urine. Other manufacturers will claim Acid Resistant construction. This is probably what Brunt is alluding to without saying it.
