FYI Mac Cuu was not a Chinese merchant but a Chinese military who remained faithful to the Ming emperor and moved to VN with his family and troops seeking for political asylum . Their intention was to overthrow the Manchurian government to restore the Ming dynasty ( the Phan Thanh Phuc Minh front ) . We call them the Ming Huong people . The Nguyên warlords allowed him to stablish in Ha Tiên to develop that region and named him governor of that province . Today you can visit his family's cemetery on Nui Co To in Ha Tiên . A temple was built there to show the Vietnamese 's gratitude and respect towards him and his son Mac Thiên Tich . This temple is called Dên Tho Mac Cuu . The national hero Nguyên Trung Truc also has his temple in Tiên Giang province , Cân Tho , Rach Gia , Phu Quoc Island and many other cities in the South .
