Not only is Keith an awesome musician, but he's an awesome dude. I got in touch with him on a guitar forum a few years back and got to meet him and Jeff Loomis after their set, opening for Animals as Leaders. He signed the backplate for my KM-7 (mk1) and I got a pic with them. He was mad chill and really appreciative of the fan support.

That's super funny that Keith writes songs in his head. I write the same way, and when other bands or players complimented something I wrote and asked how I came up with it they seemed surprised like they had never heard of such a thing. I seriously would just hear/imagine riffs in my head, expand and arrange them into structured songs, and when I would sit down to actually play them they always seemed to be played and sounded the way I imagined them in my head.

Conquering Dystopia was a really exciting group. It just grooved hard. Also checked strictly seven guitars, which wasn't familiar to me. It was weird because the frontpage clearly showed a guitar with that Ola inlay at 12th fret, but there wasn't a model like that.

Honestly, I've never been a huge signature model person but between Ola with Solar (I have a lefty 6 and 7 string) and Keith's Mark III model (just got it a couple days ago), they have hands down the most ergonomic, smooth, instruments to play. When I pick them up, they truly inspire me to play. Pair them with either the Peavey Invective and/or the Satan 50 (stereo rig) and your tone is so heavy you can melt the face of God.

because I liked the music, I wanted to hear him talk about alluvial. I waited for it, he mentioned Rico, strictly 7 (without talking shit about them tho), he said he want no drama and just enjoy what he is doing, and finally no word about alluvial. it seems to me there was a problem between him and Wes. it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but because it's the internet and I have nothing else to do, I was curious about it. thanks for the interview

Eddy Bouh Yeah of all his projects, Alluvial is my favorite, so I’m sad it’ll probably never happen again, but at least we have the one album which is a masterpiece in my mind. I think that when it comes to creative players at the level of Kieth, Wes, etc. some guys just clash, while others work well together. I think he works well with Jeff Loomis so we can probably count on another Conquering Dystopia, and I hope to see a new project from Wes soon.

This was fantastic, best Coffee With Ola so far. While I echo the sentiment of wanting Keith to upload more, I also respect and admire his ethos of trying to hold himself to a standard. That comes across in all of his work and makes it somehow mean more. As you said Ola, when Keith uploads a video, you stop what you're doing or you wait until you have the time to sit and watch it properly and that's pretty powerful.

I’ve had some great amps and I still go to my Peavey 5150 and JSX. I think a 5150 with some modern options would be a sweet thing. I know there’s an Invective, but as much as I tried to vibe with it, I use my original 5150 still. The voicing didn’t need tweaks. Just more modern features would be cool.
