This was a great game to see the difference between a super grandmaster and just a good player. The guy had a super solid opening and then you could tell had absolutely no plan at all. Then he got crushed.

Agreed 100%. I didn’t see the mate the way Aaron did, and I was quite impressed. I feel like I would have defended better than Aaron’s opponent though. Anyways, the point being Hikaru is at a completely different level. It’s one thing to say he’s the (second) highest blitz player in the world and another thing to see him do this. One always knows that Hikaru’s gonna win but there’s always this hope that maybe a good player will bring something to table that Hikaru is not prepared for. But then, Hikaru simply destroys the opponent like he was nothing, like there was never even a chance, like it was a basketball match was between Michael Jordan and a schoolgirl, like we were stupid for even giving the opponent 1% of a chance
