As a blue collar teen in the 80's there were house parties I'd attend. A friend's parents would be away and teens would arrange for alcohol to be present. Even back then the rule was that one room would be reserved for females that had too much where they could lay down and sleep it off. Usually one male and one female would stay within view of the door so that nobody could enter unnoticed.

@@Videogeek95Yeah they claim with only short recordings of confessions (made by myself as we were talking) being unable to be relied on that they can’t guarantee a conviction from a Jury. Without the recordings, all other evidence was circumstantial and complicated by him being my ex and father of my child so they said it would inevitably be a he said/she said about the consent part as the only proof for that was in the recordings. It was dropped today even after the victims appeal process, it seems there’s nothing I can do. The frustrating part is that he turned himself in and confessed that day to police but then changed his story once he spoke to a lawyer and realised the punishment awaiting so he started lying. Unfortunately it’s hard to prove it’s lies. He is now claiming all he said in the recordings was under duress and that he has poor mental health and doesn’t remember what was said to the police initially as he was in a deep depression. It’s BS but nothing I can do. It’s been poorly handled from the beginning

@@Videogeek95 No, I’m in a settled relationship now with a good income. I have nothing to gain from him being convicted except hoping for justice and to protect others. Unfortunately like I say, it’s been a rough case that’s hard to prove. I have screenshots of him admitting it to myself and friends and 9 recordings of him discussing the SA’s in his own words without prompting but he’s managed to talk his way around those seemingly using mental health and as we were in an active relationship at the time, it’s hard to prove as I was being SA’d as he used my prescription medications on me and confessed a month later about what had been happening when I fell pregnant and didn’t recall having any sex. Meaning there was very little evidence as it was down to me to prove I hadn’t consented but of course I didn’t remember anything. It’s been complicated and I lost the child due to stress. Pregnancy alone wasn’t enough as we’d been together when it occurred, I just hadn’t consented to sex the month prior to it. Sorry, what do you mean about handing me a bank? And as for being a Celt I assume you mean what nationality he is, he is Scottish and Caucasian.

A couple I knew lived in Whittier and went through hell during the Night Stalker nightmare. Everyone was sleeping with the windows shut that summer, before all houses had central air. Then the woke up to police banging on the door wanting to search their house and backyard. They lived a few houses down from the Whittier murder and the scent dogs tracked Richard Ramirez to I believe it was a playhouse in a neighboring backyard. The backyards were all fenced in and their house was one over and mirrored kitty cornered from that playhouse. They said the police suspected he had been lying in wait there for them to fall asleep. I believe they found cigarette butts in the playhouse. They described what you did. Empty streets at night, which is less unusual in 84’-85’ but police everywhere. That area of Whittier is almost all residential and pretty far from the freeway system. Very strange place to pick. These cases effect so many more people than just the victims’s families. It gives the entire area ptsd. I can only imagine having to go about your everyday life knowing that a predator is stalking the streets and feeling perpetually under threat. I’m sorry you had to experience that. The couple I knew would talk about it like it happened last year. It definitely leaves a permanent mark on you.

@@davidperez5089 At every concert I've been to, there is ALWAYS a huge line for the women's toilet. ALWAYS. If you've put off emptying your bladder because you were having fun with your friends, it might come down to leave the venue or wet your pants. I'm sure if Morgan's friends had had more experience of the world, they would have known that at least a couple of them should leave the concert as well & go to her, so she wouldn't be alone. But they were all likely around 20 years old, too, & so they took her at her word when she said she was ok & for them not to spoil their concert experience over it. We know Hannah was drunk, but Morgan may have been relatively sober, so her friends mistakenly trusted her judgment. The world seems so much more dangerous now than it was in the 80's when I was young enough to be doing these sorts of things, but people in their late teens & early 20s are just as reckless. I don't know how to impress on young minds how important safety concerns can be -- all I know is to keep an eye out for people who may be in danger & help them if I can or at least call 911 for them... Sorry this turned into a TL:DR. Peace.

I'm from this area, and my dad worked at Liberty University when Jesse Matthews attended and everyone knew what he did to get expelled, which still makes me angry. My boyfriend and his family (his parents and younger brother) were at the Metallica concert the night Morgan disappeared. It was my boyfriend's 16th birthday. My mom had the pleasure of working with Morgan's father, and she would always talk about him, as he was her favorite doctor she got to work with. The Harringtons are amazing people and they have done so much good in Morgan's name with Help Save the Next Girl. You should cover Alexis Murphy's disappearance and murder. Jesse Matthews was theorized at one point to have been her abductor and murderer. All of these happened around the same time. Central and Southwest Virginia are scary, because you can just disappear and there are huge areas that are rural and wooded, so finding someone's remains can be almost impossible if they don't know what area to look in.

Living in eastern VA, I remember following these cases in the news. I also attended Christopher Newport University but graduated in 2003. People, never ever let your friend leave alone from a night out. If you go together, you should stay together. If they insist, then someone go with them. Prayers of healing lifted for Morgan and Hannah's family and friends.

This case was wild. I attend the university. There is a memorial in the spot where Morgan (the first victim) was supposedly taken from at the stadium. Walking past it feels so chilling because you know what happened to these girls. I thought about going to Liberty, but the school has many issues. Many things that happen there go unpunished.

It’s about time they change that bs rule on not being able to re enter a gig if you go outside. Had it myself, ended up spending over an hour having to walk the streets of a city I didn’t know in the dark because car park security wouldn’t allow me to sit next to my friends car and wait for the gig to finish. If you have a ticket what exactly is the problem.. that one girl would still be alive now if they just let her back in the building.

i was a freshman at a nearby university when this happened and i gasped when i saw you were covering it. my first few months of college were especially dramatic because my mother was literally convinced i would vanish just like Hannah and she wouldn’t let me go fifteen minutes without texting her back no matter what i was up to. looking back with an adult’s mind, i completely understand the fear she must have been feeling, but at the time i felt so suffocated

Thanks for another story, Adrian. This was a really sad one. Girl’s go out on campus, or near campus, every day! They should be safe in and around university campuses. Americana’s pay so much for an education, some of that money should be going to their security. I went to university in America. I graduated from University of Texas at Austin. I was so incredibly afraid to walk the enormous campus at night. They had police everywhere, SOS telephones, etc. but I always feared walking alone on such a large campus. Girls, you have to remember that there is always going to be chance that the area you walk is unlit, or not covered by CCTV. Never walk alone. Power in numbers ❤❤❤

Not looking out for your friends is unfathomable. I once went on a camping trip for a wedding, and the bride didn't like me. Late that night I found her stumbling around and asked her what was wrong, she was trying to get to the bathroom. I literally took her arm and put it over my shoulder and walked her to the bathroom. Then I stood outside of it. I didn't leave until her group of friends finally arrived and I knew she'd be okay. That was me with a person who never liked me. Her saying she loved me then was just drunkenness, but for any woman (or man) who was drunk and needed help, I would do the same.

As for Hannah it’s so sad during the time of this case I would frequent the bars on “The Corner” and downtown mall never once would anyone feel like they were in danger since the shear volume of people and people who knew each other. I am happy to report that after this incident the city has greatly stepped up surveillance.
