It is currently long because my husband loves it (yeah, I know, but I like to make him happy, sometimes) and that means I need super gentle shampoo, heavy conditioner, and some kind of leave-in, and I need to braid it at night so it doesn't tangle and break when I sleep on it. I (68F) used to have long hair. I kept telling myself that I would do things with it--chic up-dos and whatnot. Never did. I always wore it in a ponytail, usually braided and pulled through the back of a ball cap. I finally cut it all off and now have very short hair. I kind of miss the long hair, but it always looks better on hair models than it ever did on me. Also, my hair now dries in five minutes. That said, I think that healthy, well maintained long hair looks great on women of any age, including older women.

My husband told me that he preferred me with short hair. I was always trying to grow it out, but it was very thin. So I wore it short. As I aged and my hair turned stark white, it started to grow long a lush. I know, not a common story. Anyway, now that it's long, he constantly tells me how gorgeous my hair is. My husband has admitted he absolutely hates overalls! I was shocked. Not on me specifically but in general. I don't get it, they look adorable so I still wear them but not typically if we're going out to do more than errands. Eternally a tshirt, jeans and boots girl. And androgynous styles- I wish I could pull them off! For me, getting a beautifully tailored bespoke suit would feel incredible, special, powerful. For now what's clean and cute does the job 😂 Oh when I was teaching he'd refer to my 'teacher clothes' longer jumper dresses or tunics and leggings and my general disheveled art teaching at multiple schools, schlepping looks. Oh well. At least he met me under no pretense, in a bar wearing of course a tshirt and jeans. Style evolves and looks back, my vintage pieces are mixed in the every day or just pulled out to smash styles together. It makes me happy and feel good. I've asked what he'd choose for me, but get no real response. Until then just gonna keep trying sometimes but ultimately do what I want lol

Men like the *idea* of long hair & "no makeup" It's a youthful indicator. But once you're in your 4th or 5th decade....probably not. What they mean is they prefer makeup that doesn't look like makeup & hair that isn't over coiffed.They say they want low maintenance girls but always find high maintenance(styled) women attractive. Probably differs by age group. I think younger guys are more accepting of edgy or alternative street style where older guys might prefer more tradionally feminine styles. It's always weird when a guy who was initially attracted to you (presumably liked your presentation) suddenly starts criticizing how you look/dress. Big red flag.

Love your frank and respectful comment for black women wearing hair extensions. You may want to consider that black men (in fact all men then) don't want to "run their hands through a woman's hair" as not all hair even naturally grows that way, i.e.: curly hair that is tightly curled. Yet, women blessed with hair that thick and bouncy are equally attractive to men. We all know what Eurocentric beauty image the media tells all of us (men and women) we should desire and be attracted to, and for those following that doctrine, good luck with that; for the more discerning, all women types have various modes of beauty.

So you want him to stop looking at other women? How do you propose to do that? blinders or just gouge his eyeballs out? Lol I’m going to suggest you check in on, take stock of, and perhaps work on self-esteem because those of us who very confident have no problems with our men looking and talking to other women. Committed men are still human. Some of us don’t even mind harmless flirting. I certainly wouldn’t want anyone monitoring whom I choose to look at or talk to! I would not stay partnered to any man that was that insecure! Something to think about…
@gaga48223 ай бұрын
I dunno. I don't think the comment the poster put was very nice. It sounded mean. I think we all have different boundaries of what we like and some people really don't have wandering eyes. People are different and that includes the way they look at others. I think you should just leave. Because it won't change. There's no point in arguing with a man. Just like there no point in a man trying to control and argue with a woman. Adults have the ability to understand and the freedom to choose.. For example some man get upset when their girlfriend posts sexy pictures or has a revealing clothes. But he is fine looking at other women who do the same thing and that's what attracted him to his woman. I would say he need to either except or leave and not do double standards. So there no point in staying if you value different things.. I think it's worse trying to force and pretend. Not every man feels the need to look around and some men are very attached to their partners just like some women don't look around and get very attached. I think best to find someone who agrees on certain key points rather than trying to force snd argue with an adult with free agency. Just like you aren't in control of him, he isn't in control of you so you don't have to stay. Also when two people disagree it just festers and blows up when they get mad or they hold it against the person. But if you don't leave at least find ways to have peace of mind start dressing for yourself and do things you like and go to places where people appreciate you.. I also don't think you are in a good relationship because you said he puts down what you do and comments on what you wear so he might be trying to break you down and neg you so you won't leave. Some men like to that to control the woman so she won't leave and takes his treatment.. she will try hard to please him without thinking if he is worth pleasing at all. That parts makes it sound like he doesn't care about you..and even after telling him how you feels he tries to minimize or deflect. But he is aware what he does is hurtful to you so it just sounds really sad. ☹️

Glasses fashions are something that seems to flip flop every generation or so. My Mom wore big, plastic frame glasses when I was growing up. When I needed glasses at 19, she recommended the same and my first glasses were like that. However, my friends were all wearing small, wire framed glasses. I will quote a very good salesperson at the optometrist: "Glasses are jewelry you wear every day." So I bought my small, wire frames. My mother said they looked like "old lady" glasses because that's what my grandmother wore. 20-30 years later, younger women are wearing my Mom's glasses styles. I'm still buying petite wire frames. I think they look old in their big, plastic glasses. They think I look old in my little wire glasses.

HUGE fan of short hair on women, especially as they age: It makes their necks look longer, which brings more light into their faces. And on heavier women, unless it's really well styled, long hair can make them look stubby, and it all but smothers any interesting accessories (earrings, mainly) they've got going on. I wish more American women had style and dress sense. The default style of "casual" (i.e., hoodies, sweatshirts, other kinds of pullovers) in blocky, dark, solid colors is evidently hard to grow out of. It seems to be the reason very few American women age into anything like an elegant phase. They just keep dressing like progressively bunchier, shrunken versions of themselves at 20. I just can't imagine an Italian or Spanish woman not knowing how to put together a few simple, fitted pieces, smartly accessorized and tied together with a good bag and great shoes.

Long hair or short hair, it looks different on every woman. Princess Diana is a classic example. Demi Moore, Halle Berry, Marilyn Monroe etc. A woman doesn't have to have long hair to be attractive. A friend of mine worries about aging, yet, her extremely short hair makes her look 10 years older. One time she went 5 months without having her hair cut. She looked more youthful, more feminine. Her husband was even more attracted to her. Then, she had her hair cut short again. She was more comfortable with it, her hubby complained. Long hair, for me is easier. Only once I got a pixie cut, it was harder to get my hair to do what I wanted it to do. Back to long hair, lol, it was so much easier. Personally, I dress & groom to please myself. Having made the decision to be single & celibate in 2012, life became easier since then. Maybe because I made this decision, I'm approached more than ever. Zero interest in dating, it's important to be kind when I turn the offers down.

Hate you or love you? 😯That’s pretty extreme! I doubt I’m very polarizing g. Or that anyone hates me.

Stopped wearing make-up completely when I poked myself in the eye with a mascara brush for the millionth time! My husband likes my hair short, he wanted me to buzz it at one time but that's just him. 😅

When you said some men don't get it described everything. Every woman should be what they want, if the guy cares, he accepts her and visa versa.

In the King James Version of the Bible, 1 Corinthians 11:15 states, "But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering". That’s all I need for long hair .

Knowing nothing about the Bible, I will add that many women feel most like themselves with longer more feminine hair

Hmmm, so why can men grow their hair? Is it not a covering too. Yet long hair on men is often frowned upon.

@@paulineh4019 That is a pretty in depth Bible study. For the people commenting that do not hold the Bible as the valid word of God, none of the following is going to mean a hill of beans. 🫘 Throughout the word of God, there has been a theme of gender distinctions. Deuteromy, it states that man shall not wear that which pertains to a woman neither shall a woman wear that which pertain to a man. If you did a deep dive into this topic of hair and dress… the distinction btw man and woman biblically, you would find that each gender has it’s own distinct and power place/gifts/calling in both the marriage relationship on earth as well as the marriage relationship to Jesus as the church being his bride. Through obedience to the statutes of the Bible, we have power and protection.. for God knows the pitfalls of going outside these boundaries. It’s like fire in a fireplace . It’s a beautiful warm comforting wonderful thing … as long as it’s within its boundaries. I’d let loose … Fire is massively destructive. When God sets up boundaries.. it is for protection, he knows the end from the beginning. Like a parent who knows far more than the young child who can’t understand all the whys of the don’t touch that, don’t do this. It is a shame for man to have long hair bc he is stepping over into what is set apart for a woman. At once time I imagine these verses were a mystery. Yet in my life time I have watched before my eyes all the crossing of genders and now the mass confusion… ultimately identity crisis … The devil wants us mixed up and confused … I know there will be some to disagree but humanity is not getting better… the mental health crisis is huge … In my opinion it is because we have gone so far away from the boundaries in many areas that God has set to protect us . In short .. hair and dress is about gender distinction . Not just in appearance, but in the role we have in spiritual warfare . Men and women are two puzzle 🧩 pieces separate and beautifully fit to make a powerful picture together.

As a man, and as an observer, the woman I’ve dated were often more concerned about what other women thought of their appearance rather than me. Personally, it’s not what a woman wears, it’s more is she dressed appropriately for the occasion.
