Stop screaming and thrashing, you’re messing up my wire routing!’ I’ve worked both sides of the fence. VERY different mindsets required. 😣

Coffee said it well... its more of a question between usefulness vs effort/cost/risk. The problem of losing your headphones is not worth injecting something into your body. In Diabetic Care we started developing microchips to insert into the body to measure your sugar levels and automatically inject the right doses. I am working with some Start-Ups as a consultant, which try to go into the body implant (yet barely existing) market. As of now, the need they try to fulfil is just not there yet. Doesn't mean that there is absolutely no chance, that it won't be in the future. It is always interesting to meet the people working on these ideas, but 99% of the time, it is just interesting technology, but without a real purpose/market.

I want to see that full episode. Did the Sharks ask about the valuation, how much the procedure and device would cost, and how much to make it? All the typical sales questions. I would of loved to hear him explain the valuation.

It doesn't even get that far tbh ... It's pretty entertaining but they are all out at an early stage .. it doesn't get to the financials at all lmao ... Poor guy lol ... There's always next time, but it's time to dissolve the bionic ear llc and start from.square one ...

I love it every time one of the sharks/dragons are laughing at someone and one of the others says something akin to "let them finish". You know they want nothing but to keep the laughs coming.

This is why the tech guys need marketing guys. If this was pitched well, without the creepy "I'm a mad serial killer in a CSI episode" graphics, this could have worked.

Personally I love bionics & the general idea of augmenting the body with technology, and I think this guy was correct when he said it could be normalized with marketing and gain social acceptance over time. However, this pitch was definitely awful. Designing biotech like this would take a ton of technical, engineering, and medical expertise which this guy clearly doesn't have. Not a bad idea on the surface, but the details of his solution are implausible at best and mortally dangerous at worst.

Sure, I wouldn't get one of these, but with some adjustments, a lot of cyberpunk enthusiasts would probably love it. The most obvious improvement would be to not attach the device directly, but to just implant a slot - That way you could easily remove the device to recharge or to get an upgrade.
