Thanks for the review. Will check out the album. On another topic: For some reason, after the classic black metal Darkthrone albums (I got them when they came out, old fart here), I can't get into all their other material. I tried and tried many times, nothing, they bore me to death. It's a worship band, full of very familiar riffs strung together. They never manage to surprise me. Almost like a cover band. I miss the urgency of those first records (until Panzerfaust it's all good for me).

The problem with the Darkthrone approach (and related projects) is that there is editor; nobody to tell them it sucks until its already out

Been listening to the album all week. Thought the album sounded produced pretty well. The riffs are solid. Drums aren't too primitive though leans in that direction which I really like. I quite enjoy the vocals & unfortunately hard not to reference Darkthrone, I feel it could place neatly next to Underground Resistance. Would like to know how these songs came together. Whether they rehearsed together or whether Fenriz just added vocals. Cool review. Glad this one was done. The closing riff you chose is my favourite off the album.

Right on! It is indeed hard not to compare this to DT as I mentioned, but I think the music has more going on than the last 3 DT albums at least. Thanks for watching!

Hi Marty, great review stirref my interrest in checking out this album. Not a great Dark Throne fan, but the snippets you played sounded quirky enough to investigate deeper. What realy made my day was you mentioning Lamented Souls. Had never heared of the band, checked them out on Bandcamp and it was an instant buy. So hats off to you sir. Cheers Thomas

I enjoyed the album. The riffs are great and the songs are enjoyable. My issue is with the vocals as this clean doom style (no shade to Fenriz's performance) is not a style I super enjoy. Definitely will give it more listens to see how I feel. I enjoy the recent Darkthrone albums and this fits into this mold, though those have a more black metal style vocal that I enjoy more.

Good album. Nice tempo changes and really decent riff-work throughout. If only the production on the drum-work would be a little bit more up to date I would enjoy this album even more. But decent nonetheless...

I've been really digging this album just ordered a copy today. I know Fenriz is a Haevy Metal Lifer. This is no dig at him singing like this but sometimes I can't help but thinking he is taking the piss out of traditionally sung vocals. I know that's not the case, but for some reason I can't help it haha. Either way I'm still having fun with the album.
